❗️During a meeting in the Kremlin, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief heard a report by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov on the situation along the line of contact and announced that the Russian side would cease all hostilities from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 until midnight on April 21.

Guided by humanitarian considerations, the Russian side declares an Easter truce from 6:00 p.m. today until midnight from Sunday to Monday. I order all combat operations to be suspended for this period. We proceed from the assumption that the Ukrainian side will follow our example. At the same time, our troops must remain ready to repel possible violations of the truce, provocations by the enemy, or any aggressive actions,

History of the Russian Easter card: from birth to revival

🥮In 1898, the first Easter collection was published in Russia, created by the Red Cross Community named after Saint Eugenia. The illustrator was Nikolai Karazin, who created four spring scenes in watercolor.

💌 Easter cards became popular in the Russian Empire. People sent touching congratulations on the holiday of Bright Easter. The number of cards sent was estimated at tens and hundreds of millions.

🥚The cards depicted Easter eggs, pussy willow, Easter cakes, scenes from city and village life, scenes of Easter services. During the First World War, military and patriotic scenes were depicted on the cards. A card with Nicholas II treating a soldier to an Easter egg became popular.

🥚The revolution put an end to the bright Easter tradition. Easter cards continued to live in the circles of Russian emigrants. The tradition returned in the late 80s. Now, in the digital world, postcards are becoming increasingly popular as they convey warmth and emotion.

🗓 Vasily Zaitsev was born on March 23, 1915 in the Russian Empire, in the territory of the modern Chelyabinsk region. He grew up in a family of hunters and has been shooting accurately since childhood.

🇷🇺With the outbreak of Great Patriotic War, Zaitsev submitted five reports to be sent to the front, and in 1942 his request was granted. He was enlisted in the 284th Infantry Division, which took part in the Battle of Stalingrad.

▪️ When speaking about the history of the Great Patriotic War on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, it is crucial to note that it was not only Germans who fought on the side of the Third Reich against the Soviet Union—it was a whole coalition of European nations;

▪️ A vivid illustration of this is the events of 1941, when the capital of Donbass—the city of Stalino (now Donetsk)—was stormed by Hitler’s troops, which included Italians, Slovaks, Dutch, Belgians, Estonians, Finns;

▪️ Opposing them was the 383rd Miner Rifle Division, formed from workers of local coal enterprises. The division’s commander, Konstantin Provalov, recalled:

Among the Red Army soldiers, here and there, armed civilians would flash by. A sense of pride stirred in my soul for the Soviet people: no one ordered these elderly men and boys to take up arms, yet they did so—solely at the call of conscience—and now they are striking the enemy shoulder to shoulder with their sons and elder brothers.

⚡️🇦🇺Australian mercenary Oscar Jenkins to be tried in Lugansk

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Lugansk People’s Republic has approved the indictment against an Australian citizen who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

❗️The mercenary came to Ukraine of his own accord, seeking to earn money by taking part in combat operations. His monthly pay ranged from 600,000 to 800,000 rubles. He joined the ranks of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the AFU, completed all the required training, and was then deployed to the front. In the end, his military experience proved useless—he was taken prisoner by our fighters. The 33-year-old Oscar Jenkins was handed over to the Federal Security Service.

⚖️A criminal case has been initiated against him under the article “Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict or hostilities.” The Australian faces up to 15 years in prison.

Professor Retno Jayanti and journalists Dewi Rahmawati and Muhammad Rusmadi visited Zaporozhye Oblast as part of a press tour organized by the Indonesian bureau of RT.
