Yes, you can pick up some Russian while you’re here. After all, you’ll spend nearly a month in Russia, surrounded by the language, culture, and people. Many of our fellows say it sparked their desire to keep learning Russian afterwards!

‼️But — and it’s a big one — the programme is not designed for learning the language.

Our fellowships are built around your professional development. All activities are conducted primarily in English (except for fellowships in Russian studies, which are in Russian, and some journalism rounds, which are in Arabic).

There are no Russian language courses in the schedule, and frankly — you won’t have time for them. Because your stay in Russia will be packed with expert sessions, networking, field visits, and working on your own research or creative project. That’s where the real magic happens ✨

➡️ So, if your main goal is to study Russian — InteRussia might not be the right fit.
