In line with its self-reliance mission, #ISRO has developed an alternative for the imported Columbium material used for the nozzle divergent in the 4th stage of #PSLV launch vehicle.

It has indigenously developed the nozzle divergent made of Stellite. This alternate material is a cobalt-based alloy with additions of Chromium, Nickel, Tungsten and Iron.

The tests conducted on the Stellite made nozzle divergent has proved that it can retain strength at high temperatures up to 1,150°C.

ISRO had conducted three tests earlier and a final test on April 8 where it was proven successful after a hot test lasting for a duration of 665 seconds.

The #Maharashtra State Board of Wildlife (SBWL) today declared the DPS wetland in Navi Mumbai as a Flamingo Conservation Reserve. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and attended by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik as well as senior officials.


Bombay Natural History Society director Kishor Rithe, who attended the meeting, said the BNHS and several other organisations from Navi Mumbai had given representations to the state government on this issue. He added that DPS lake conservation reserve will help to avoid air accidents in future at Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The SBWL also cleared the extension of Bor Wildlife Sanctuary in Wardha to add Garamsur, Yenidodka, Methiraji, Umarvihori and Maraksur villages.

The US has announced to exempt smartphones and computers imported to the country from the latest tariffs. According to a US Customs and Border Protection notice, the smartphones and computers would be excluded from US President Donald Trump's 10% global tariff on most countries, and the much larger Chinese tariffs of 145%.

The exemption applies to products entering the US or removed from warehouses as early as April 5. The exemptions also include other electronic devices and components, including semiconductors, solar cells, and memory cards. The move will help tech giants like Apple, which make iPhones and other products in China.


The announcement comes after the Trump administration imposed a minimum tariff rate of 145 per cent on Chinese goods imported to the United States. Earlier, President Trump said he could offer some exemptions to his 10 per cent tariff on most US trading partners.

China has responded strongly after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose an additional 50 percent tariff on Chinese goods if Beijing does not withdraw its retaliatory tariffs by today.

#Brazil has proposed the creation of a new international body to accelerate global climate action.

The plan is shared ahead of this year’s UN climate conference (Conference of the Parties - #COP30) in Belem, a city in northern Brazil, in November 2025.

#Hungary’s government announced its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC), just before Prime Minister Viktor Orban received his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces an ICC arrest warrant.
