Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) says he believes the U.S. would be better off today had his bipartisan border bill passed last year, but tells Major Garrett “some form of that, eventually, we will get done.”
“It should have passed. It would have fixed a lot of loopholes in the law that would have made it easier to do enforcement now,” Lankford says. “Was the bill everything that I wanted? No, I was negotiating with the Democrat White House at the time to be able to get it done. But many of the areas that we need to close the loopholes were in that bill.”
