What is wrong with people who spray water on the concrete road just to make the area cooler? I mean, that's absolute madness!

Some feel that punishment should focus more on rehabilitation instead of long prison terms. Others feel prison terms are important for social stability.

Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

There is a view that less abrupt choices of punishment such as rehabilitation should be prioritized when dealing with lawbreakers. Others, however, think that this approach puts society in danger, resulting in an increase in crime rates. In my opinion, although rehabilitation might help individuals get back to their normal lives easier, imprisonment is more promising in the long term.

On the one hand, imprisonment often marks a turning point in one’s life by causing depression and associated low self-esteem. For this reason, it might be argued that rehabilitation should be opted for since then people who commit crimes would be recovered both physically and psychologically. During the process, criminals, if approached and treated by psychologists and experts in the field, come to understand the seriousness of their actions and how to continue their lives normally, without ever coming back to doing wrong and unlawful deeds. In this sense, rehabilitation certainly seems justifiable, given the harsh and oftentimes inhumane conditions they would have to endure if sent to prison.

However, no one can absolutely guarantee that this way of “punishment” would actually treat people and prevent further crimes. Instead, I believe it would expose the weaknesses in the law, meaning that people might start to doubt the inevitability of punishment for criminals. This is because if lawbreakers know that, regardless of their actions, they could get away with little or less punishment, they may continue to harm society. The resultant increase in crime rates means that society will be less secure, and the social instability is bound to happen. Imprisonment ensures that those people will not be returned to society until they are fully recovered.

In conclusion, thinking that rehabilitation prevents further crimes from happening would be too broad because no one can ensure this method fully works despite having benefits for certain individuals. The role of prisons should not be neglected here because it keeps criminals under control, preventing them from committing crimes again.

My assumption here is that time is surely relative, but there are a few reasons time seems to be moving fast:

1. Back then, we were young(er) and didn't have much to focus on (more like school, home, and sleep in my case).

2. Now, as we got older, we have become overwhelmed with the number of things that demand attention simultaneously. Juggling work, studies, and personal growth is taking up all the time, leaving only some time.

3. Distractions. This is so real, especially considering I had been new to the internet and social media before the pandemic started. Social media has made us more dependent on our phones than ever.

Sometimes, our class turns into discussions over a certain verbal question, where we are torn between 2 options. In those moments, Akram really came to our rescue: he would have a solid, simple explanation that would settle the debate. His determined nature ultimately got him the score he deserved. 750 on the English is incredible 🔝

1500+ is loading after a retake! Wish you all the best!

Ms.Hilola was a hardworking student. 🔝Nothing could hinder her quest for knowledge - neither long commutes nor difficulties in the learning process. 🫡But through it all, her personality shone - she was the sunshine of the group. 😇 “Less talking, more doing” was exactly about her. 👏 Despite the setback on the March 8th exam, she went for the make-up test and could pull off an impressive 740 in math,🔥which hopefully will help her secure admission to her target uni.🎯 The best is yet to come for you! 🤗

I observed two traits about his personality during our classes: responsible and punctual; he used to come from a district area, spending hours on the road. Despite this, he managed to pull off 1200+, which will open the doors for a number of universities. The time you've spent with us has truly been memorable, and I believe it's just the starting of your future success! Keep pushing!

Dilnura decided to stay with us after her first group graduated, and now her determination has paid off. By the way, she also won the FLEX program, which is unbelievably difficult to pull off. The journey she's been with us was remarkable, and I know for sure that acceptance to Ivy League is loading. The next step is retaking the SAT for a 1500+ score and focusing on AP classes and extracurricular activities.

Kamoliddin had a completely different personality: he occasionally asked questions but was quite observant. Judging by his mock results from Bluebook, I can see the exam nerves must've got in the way; otherwise, we would be witnessing nothing short of 1400+. Anyway, we wish you all the best and believe in your potential to pursue your education at prestigious universities.

Mohiniso was never shy in asking questions, and that must've been the cornerstone in achieving this score. Depending on her goals, of course, she should consider preparing more and retaking since it's no easy job getting a really incredible score in one's first attempt. Never be afraid to go after your goals! You've got this!

Sometimes, we should take the time to rewatch those movies/books that we think is worth rewatching/rereading. When I recently rewatched a few episodes from this legenday TV series Merlin, I discovered ideological elements I'd missed or was reminded. Life is too short to get through all the books/movies; it is, I guess, much better to take our time to absorb the true meanings from those works.

Those who answer yes, are you taking into account the element of luck?

Yeah, it's nice to have a positive mindset and believing in your abilities, but at the same time, it's important that we don't neglect this and other factors as well. I've been interested in this theory called Toxic Positivity, where you try to look at your life in the most absurdly positive way possible no matter how awful it may be in reality. While sayings like 'never stop grinding' and 'keep believing in yourself' are meant to inspire, they overlook the fact that some things are simply beyond our control.

Just because we can visualize something happening doesn't necessarily mean that we are able to achieve it: imagination is not always based on reality. Ultimately, what you end up being is your fate.

If you're a beginner in a new language who is finding it hard to memorize foreign new words, give this mnemonics method a go. It really works!

It doesn't work for advanced/intermediate level learners. At this point you should already be learning new words without any major difficulties, and you'd much better learn words with the context, synonyms, and sentence examples.

Reflection Post

After a failed attempt back in May 2024, I decided to give CDI a shot. To my surprise, it turned out to be much better than the paper-based exam. I would definitely recommend this format for the following reasons:

1. No need to go back and forth looking for context and questions since the text and questions are displayed in the same place.
2. Typing & editing are much faster than writing manually; it seems almost unrealistic to write around 400 words on paper.
3. You don’t have to wait forever to get your score: the results are announced within 1-5 days.
4. The long delays on test day, such as waiting for everyone to register and for answer sheets to be collected, are not an issue.
5. OSR (One Skill Retake) is always an option in case you fail.

Below are my thoughts and recommendations about each section of the test:

🎧 Listening 9.0:

It always feels so easy yet so slippery at the same time because there is always a chance that you might screw up. When doing practice tests/mock tests, I always miss a question or two just because tests seem so boring, which makes my brain wander off. Thankfully, maybe since I must've felt the seriousness of the test, I didn't get distracted. I believe it's become a standard now to get 20 multiple choice and gap filling questions, so you should be ready for that.

📖 Reading 9.0:

The test was Cambridge-like for the most part. I managed my time quite well in the end, which gave me a chance to look at 3 tricky questions. For preparation, there is no better source than latest Cambridge books.

✍️ Writing 7.0:

To be honest, I feel like I deserved more than that. Time wasn't an issue at all;I did both tasks generally well; I had a chance to proofread my work. Before the exam, I wrote around 5-6 essays for both task 1, 2 and consulted AI & my friends for feedback. I'll appeal and see how that unfolds. If your exam is around the corner, work on speed and accuracy by putting yourself under exam conditions.

🗣 Speaking 7.5:

Apart from speaking classes with my students, I almost didn't prepare for the interview. Everything was spontaneous. The examiner was a woman from India, and for the most part, she was supportive. Surely, thoroughly preparing for topics is helpful, but trying to speak English every day can be a game-changer, especially for fluency.

t.me/chulliev_blog/476
Alhamdulillah!

0.5 short of 8.5 (applying for EOR)

I managed to increase my score on each section by 0.5 point from the last attempt. What a consistency 😁

‼️Governments or anyone, unless they have access to your phone directly or indirectly (via viruses e.g.), can never track your private messages on social media platforms. Platforms like Telegram use E2EE (End-to-end encryption) method, which means only you and the recipient can read your messages. However, comments, public messages can be seen by anyone.

Hence, I believe this is a lie 🔗 Link
