To Taehyungie hyung,
Taehyungie hyung, during my military life, there were so many things I was thankful for but I couldn’t express them all in words, so I’m conveying my sincerity like this.
Even though your shoulders, back, and body overall weren’t in good condition, you still ranked 1st in shooting as a ‘full-shot marksman’ (full-shot marksman: Special shooter who scores at least 18 out of 20 shots), won first place in Winter Urban Training and shooting and even received the Military Police Exemplary Award for your fighting spirit despite being injured. Watching all that truly inspired me a lot.And I still clearly remember the last physical fitness test when running 3km together with hyung, you said, “we must make it to ‘special class’ no matter what,” and so we pushed each other and cheered each other on. And when we both finished much earlier than the ‘special class’ standard, it was really idyllic, and I think it’ll stay as a core memory for me.
Also, the times when we exercised together with Sunghyun, whether it was rain or snow or when we sweated in a better environment all thanks to the equipment hyung donated, are all precious memories to me.
Also, when we went to the PX during outings or leave, I was always so grateful to hyung for buying us a lot of delicious food. Especially the eel rice bowl you bought, I still can’t forget it. It was seriously delicious…
Most of all, thanks to the consistency and passion hyung showed me, I became more determined to pursue my dream of becoming a rehabilitation therapist. Because of you, I didn’t give up on working out or studying during military life, and I was able to keep trying. After being discharged, I became even more motivated to chase my dream quickly.
Thanks to you, my military life was more enjoyable hyung. I’ll live like you—steadily and without giving up. Hyung, always stay healthy!”
