will as it is

The word “will”, being both a noun and a verb, has a multitude of meanings, check out the sentence:

Only her will will determine what her pre-death will represents.

Here this word is used 3 times and all of them mean different things.

1️⃣ a will — an official document expressing desires of a person before they pass away

2️⃣ will — the auxiliary verb for Future Simple

3️⃣ a will — a desire

Today I’m willing to share a book that’s full of will: it’s the iconic autobiographical “Will” by Will Smith.

I hope you will enjoy reading it! The book’s in the comments section👇

what’s your lead-pipe cinch?

During my evening readings yesterday I came across the phrase “lead-pipe cinch”. The latter, with the meaning of “complete certainty”, made me wonder where such semantics derived from.

The ‘cinch’ is the Spanish/Mexican word for a horse’s saddle-girth – cincha. These were typically made from twisted strands of horsehair and provided a secure fixing for the saddle.

📚The metaphorical use of “cinch” began as the rich and powerful used their status to involve in monopolistic activities and fraud in order to cheat the general public.

The common usage of ‘cinch’ now, that is, to mean ‘easy’ rather than ‘secure’, comes from this ‘easy money’ association.

🤩Regarding the “lead-pipe” part, opinions differ. One has suggested that lead pipes were used to twist and tighten cinch straps. Others have suggested the derivation lies with some property of lead pipe, for example, it is easy to bend, or it constituted an effective weapon with the certainty of knocking someone out. There’s no evidence to support any of the suggestions provided above.

This bit of immersion into the origins of the phrase made me wish to try horse-riding 🐎

Have you ever done horse-riding? If yes, how would you describe your experience?

how to learn English in 24 hours

Our lives will no longer be the same!
In an astonishing breakthrough, linguistic experts have developed a brand-new language learning method that allows individuals to learn English fluently in just 24 hours. The method, known as HyperLingo, has taken the language learning world by storm.

The method involves three phases:

1. Listening Phase: For the first 12 hours, users simply listen to English audio at a specific frequency while they go about their normal day-to-day activities.

2. Immersion Phase: The next 8 hours require watching English TV shows with subtitles, interacting with AI-powered language tools, and reading short, context-heavy sentences.

3. Sleep Phase: During the final 4 hours, the brain is exposed to a frequency-enhanced sleep soundtrack to accelerate memory retention.

Early testers have reported an unprecedented boost in their ability to understand and speak English after completing the program, with some even dreaming in English.

Gorillaz is a British virtual band formed in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The project includes a vast fictional universe surrounding the «virtual group» consisting of four animated participants.

Below comes the vocabulary ⬇️ Listen and notice where these items are used:

🤩 intangible — an adjective to describe something that cannot be touched or felt in reality
🤩 pick and choose — an idiom that means to carefully select or choose the best, most desirable, or appropriate option from among a number of options
🤩 kicking tunes — energising melodies
🤩 righteous — morally correct

days of prosperity

Days of prosperity make us forget adversity. Good times seems out of reach during the bad ones. Both can seem like final destinations, the summation of our days. Then the cosmic joker plays with our ways. Yesterday’s condition no longer remains. All commas, no periods, all stops, no stays, the pleasure’s for rent, but so is the pain.

explanations of yesterday’s grammar

🔜The sentence "I suggest to go swimming" is not grammatically correct in standard English.

The problem lies in the use of the infinitive form "to go" after the verb "suggest." In English, the verb "suggest" is typically followed by a gerund (the -ing form of a verb) rather than an infinitive. Therefore, the correct form of the sentence would be "I suggest going swimming."

🔜The sentence "I suggest that she go running" is correct due to the use of the subjunctive mood in English. In this context, the subjunctive conveys a recommendation or suggestion rather than a statement of fact. In the subjunctive, the verb "to go" is used in its base form (i.e., "go"), regardless of the subject. This differs from the indicative mood, which would require "she goes" to indicate a statement of fact. The construction "that she go" indicates a suggestion about what she should do.

🔜The use of the gerund form "going" (rather than the infinitive "to go") after the verb "suggest" is grammatically correct in English.

This structure is common with certain verbs, including "suggest," "recommend," and "consider." It emphasizes the action as a general idea rather than a specific instance.

all things Irish☘️

Today thousands of people are donning green, searching for four-leaf clovers or raising pints of Guinness, all in honor of St. Patrick.

This holiday is about more than just parades and shamrocks; it’s a time to embrace the spirit of Ireland, its rich history, and the joy of togetherness. Above are some photos from my trip to Ireland, I’m in full reminisce today🇮🇪

May your troubles be less, your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door!
