10 Types of Laziness and Their Cure:
Laziness isn’t real.
It’s a pattern—your mind’s way of protecting you from something it thinks is dangerous.
But here’s the catch: most of those fears aren’t real anymore.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, unmotivated, or unable to move forward—chances are, one of these subconscious patterns is running the show.
Here’s what’s actually happening beneath the surface:
1. Avoidance → Escaping Discomfort
When things felt overwhelming as a kid (failure, rejection, criticism), you learned to withdraw instead of engage.
Cure: Action kills avoidance. Take one small step. Discomfort won’t kill you. Staying stuck will.
2. People-Pleasing → Avoiding Rejection
If love felt conditional, you learned to prioritize others over yourself.
Cure: Saying no isn’t selfish—it’s survival. Protect your energy.
3. Perfectionism → Avoiding Judgment
"If I can’t do it perfectly, why do it at all?"
Cure: Perfection is a lie. Start messy. Done is better than perfect.
4. Overwhelm → Avoiding Decision Fatigue
Too many options = brain shutdown.
Cure: Simplify. Decide fast. Move forward. Adjust later.
5. Learned Helplessness → Avoiding Responsibility
When you were told "this is just how things are," you stopped believing in change.
Cure: You’re not powerless. Own your choices. Even small shifts create momentum.
6. Suppression → Avoiding Emotional Expression
If emotions were dismissed ("stop crying"), you learned to push them down.
Cure: Feel it. Process it. Emotion is energy—it needs to move.
7. Distractibility → Avoiding Internal Reflection
If stillness was never modeled, distraction became the default.
Cure: Sit with yourself. Discomfort is where clarity begins.
8. Defensiveness → Avoiding Growth
If feedback = attack, you resist learning.
Cure: Growth feels uncomfortable. Lean into it.
9. Hyper-Independence → Avoiding Disappointment
If trust led to pain, you learned to rely only on yourself.
Cure: Let people in. Support isn’t weakness—it’s strategy.
10. Identity Attachment → Avoiding Change
If you were labeled ("the smart one," "the quiet one"), change feels like a threat.
Cure: You’re not a fixed character. You’re a constant evolution.
How to Break Free from These Patterns:
Step 1: Identify which pattern hits hardest. The one that triggers you most? That’s the one running the show.
Step 2: Write down 10 times this pattern showed up recently. Awareness is the first step.
Step 3: Meditate on it. Sit with it for 10 minutes (I have a guided meditation for this in my newsletter or just DM me and I'll send it).
Step 4: Track it daily. Notice when it happens, where, and how you react.
Step 5: Close the gap. The faster you catch yourself in the pattern, the easier it is to shift.
It’s not about "fixing" yourself.
It’s about seeing clearly—and choosing differently.
Which one hit home for you?
