Q. Since debut, you’ve been recognized for your high-quality performances that are beyond what’s expected from rookies. When preparing the performance for “HANDS UP,” what aspects did you focus on the most?
#SOOIN: Of course, syncing with the members was important, but we mainly focused on making the stage feel fun and natural so that the audience could enjoy it with us! In the chorus, there’s a move where we lift both hands and roll our bodies it’s the highlight of the choreography so I remember practicing body rolling a lot to make it really memorable!
#NARIN: We focused on effectively expressing the bold and confident energy that “HANDS UP” carries. Since the lyrics are fun and honest, we worked hard to bring them to life and created choreography that would be fun to watch too. Our members were heavily involved in the choreography-making process, so we thought deeply about each move and exchanged lots of ideas together. We prepared really hard to show a polished performance, with dynamic and strong energy, cat-like movements, and playful facial expressions all while constantly thinking about what really defines “MEOVV’s identity.”
Q. You’re having your second comeback in a short period of time. What aspect did you focus on the most while preparing for this comeback?
#GAWON : We put a lot of effort into making sure the message of the song is well conveyed through the music video, the performance, and every other part of the presentation. From recording to choreography creation, costume fittings, and planning meetings, all five of us actively contributed ideas to infuse MEOVV’s unique color into every part. We worked hard to share our good energy with more people.
#ANNA : I always have so much fun preparing for comebacks! I always think about surprising the people who listen to the song and watch the performance. Of course, I pay a lot of attention to the performance itself, but even when things get busy during the preparation period, I make sure to take good care of my condition so I can be in top shape for the stage and shoots!
#NARIN : For this comeback, we focused on making sure every detail felt “so us” we wanted to include MEOVV in every element. Not only the visible aspects like costumes, makeup, and hair, but also the overall mood and the way we express ourselves. We communicated with each other constantly, making adjustments to improve the quality and ensure that our color would shine through. I hope we can make our identity even more distinct with this comeback.
Q. During the preparation process for your comeback, including recording, jacket shooting, and music video filming, were there any special episodes or memorable moments?
#SOOIN : For the first time since our debut individual trailers, I filmed a scene where I flew through the air on wires. It was incredibly cold at the time, but during that moment, the cold wind actually felt refreshing. My heart felt light and liberated, almost like I was set free from something. I remember being really happy while filming that scene!
#NARIN : When we were recording, we practiced singing the highlight of the song, “hands up!” with big breaths and strong energy. I remember laughing when we kept repeating that part over and over. Also, for the music video shoot, we were running around the set late at night, and we had to hold back our laughter while acting seriously that was a tough but funny memory. Physically, it was hard, but we had a great time filming thanks to the fun atmosphere, with the members joking around and supporting each other.
