On April 15, the Refugee Council of Lithuania hosted an inspiring in-person networking event focused on building meaningful connections and tackling procrastination—two key ingredients for personal and professional growth. The event was funded by U.S. Embassy Vilnius, Lithuania , highlighting a shared commitment to empowering communities and fostering development.

At the Refugee Council of Lithuania, something powerful is taking shape.

In our latest #CollectivePattern workshop, held on April 11, 2025, six Ukrainian senior women gathered to co-create the first collective artwork of the project. Through shared memories, traditional symbols, and heart-led conversations, they created a piece called “Rebirth” — a symbol of renewal, strength, and shared purpose.

This marks the start of a journey where art becomes a tool for empowerment, healing, and sustainable impact.

🧵The mission of The Collective Pattern is to empower refugee and migrant women by valuing their craft, honoring their heritage, and creating new sources of income — one stitch at a time.

The "Fundraising from Idea to Success" training session was held to equip aspiring entrepreneurs, refugees, and community activists with essential knowledge on securing funding for their projects. The session provided insights into various fundraising opportunities, including grants, loans, crowdfunding, and investor engagement. 🌱💼

The session was conducted by Oleksandra Fomin, a business consultant at EY and a board member of The Kectil Program. With extensive experience in business development, fundraising, and market analysis, she provided expert guidance on navigating the financial landscape and securing funding effectively. 🎓✨
The two-hour session combined theoretical insights with hands-on exercises, enabling participants to apply fundraising principles in real-time. The structured approach covered financial planning, investor communication, and strategic fundraising techniques. ⏰📝

On March 18, 2025, we successfully held the final workshop of The Voices of Strength: Refugee Empowerment through Storytelling and Advocacy project. Since July 2024, this initiative has provided refugees with the tools and skills to share their personal stories, fostering a deeper understanding of EU values and strengthening their voices in their new communities.

Throughout the project, participants engaged in storytelling workshops led by expert Milda Varnauskaite. These sessions created a safe and supportive space where refugees could develop their storytelling techniques, learn about their rights, and gain confidence in sharing their experiences. While stories remained confidential, those inspired to speak publicly received mentoring and opportunities to share their narratives with wider audiences.

On February 26, 2025, the Refugee Council of Lithuania conducted an important partners’ meeting as part of the Bridging the Financial Gap Project. This initiative is dedicated to addressing the financial challenges faced by refugee entrepreneurs in Lithuania, fostering collaboration between NGOs, government agencies, and financial institutions to create more inclusive financial opportunities.

Key discussion points and findings:
📌 Financial barriers – Refugee entrepreneurs struggle with access to funding due to administrative constraints, lack of collateral, and limited financial literacy resources.
📌 Language challenges – Many support programs and financial resources are only available in Lithuanian, making it difficult for refugees to navigate available opportunities. Improving translation services and establishing multilingual platforms are critical.
📌 Tailored financial solutions – The importance of non-collateral loan options and customized funding mechanisms was emphasized to better support refugee-led businesses.
