The line graph illustrates the number of foreign visitors to three specific places – the coast, the mountains and the lakes – in a European country from 1987 to 2007.
Overall, the most popular place among overseas visitors was the coast with the exception of 2002. In contrast, the mountains were the least well-known places. Moreover, the most noticeable change was with the number of the mountains’ visitors, sharply increasing until 2002.
According to the graph, the number of visitors to the coasts was dominant in almost all years. In 1987, 40,000 foreign visitors paid the coasts a visit. After a slight dip to around 38,000 in 1992, the quantity of the visitors dramatically went up by about 40,000 at the end of the period.
The lakes underwent a substantial rise in the number of overseas visitors. In 1987, the place was the least preferred compared to other areas with 10,000 visitors. The figure later skyrocketed overtaking other areas until 2002, peaked at around 75,000 visitors. However, the number of foreign visitors saw a sharp decrease in 2007, accounting for 50,000.
Regarding the least visited area; the mountains, in the first 15 years, there were fluctuations in the number of visitors between 20,000 and approximately 22,000. Finally, the figure rose steadily by 2007, comprising nearly 36,000 visitors.
