🇪🇪 Estonia seeks to ban the broadcasting of Russian and Belarusian TV channels under the pretext of “combating propaganda”

According to the draft law, Tallinn would have the authority to shut down broadcasting without a court decision. This would apply to cable networks and online platforms. Content creators would also be required to disclose their sources of income, and a mandatory percentage of Estonian-language content would be introduced on radio.

🏗 Digest of the restoration work in the DPR over the past week:

🔵Vladimir Putin has opened a renovated sports complex with a swimming pool "Yunost" in Dokuchayevsk. Since 1972, there has never been any repairs here. The sports complex received a second life thanks to the patron region Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Major repairs began in March 2024 - all work was completed within a year.

🔵The Moscow Region has completed 90% of the restoration work on kindergarten No. 100 in Mariupol. Specialists replaced windows and roof, insulated and painted the facade, repaired the offices and the kitchen area, restored the utility networks, and updated the courtyard area.

🔵In Volnovakha, the "Malysh" kindergarten was restored. Builders restored the brickwork of the walls, replaced the floor slabs, and sealed the cracks. They completely restored the stairwells and roof, installed new windows, doors and modern equipment.

🔵An apartment building on Bakhchivandzhi Street in Mariupol has been restored. This five-story building received multiple damages during the fighting. Builders restored 51 burnt and partially destroyed apartments in 6 months. The apartments look absolutely new today.

🔵Another apartment building has been restored in the Zhovtnevy district of Mariupol. Specialists repaired the roof, engineering systems, and restored the facade of the building.

🔵School No. 17 is being restored in Mariupol.

On enemy shelling and the situation on the front line prior to the Easter truce:

▪️Despite the declared ceasefire, Gorlovka came under shelling four times;

▪️A number of settlements were liberated [prior to the Easter truce], including in the Krasnoarmeisk and Konstantinovka directions;

▪️In the Novosyolka direction, we are witnessing the advance of Russian Armed Forces towards the settlements of Bogatyr, Otradnoye, and Komar. In Otradnoye, enemy strongholds and forest belts are being actively cleared;

▪️The hotspots remain the outskirts of Dzerzhinsk and Chasov Yar. The enemy is counterattacking and trying with all its might to hold the Krasnoarmeisk direction;

▪️In the Krasny Liman direction, the main activity is unfolding in the area of the settlement of Novoye.

On preparations for the celebration of May 9:

▪️As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory, more than 57,000 events are planned throughout the year;

▪️In accordance with the President’s instruction, 22 veterans have already been granted the title of Honorary Resident of their municipalities, with another seven to receive this title in the near future;

▪️Preparations for the May holidays are underway. As part of the “Green Donbass” project, over 8,000 trees and shrubs are being planted across the Republic. Restoration work is being carried out on monuments dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – in total, more than 660 such monuments will be refurbished. 🛡 Air defence units shot down 14 U.S.-made JDAM guided aerial bombs, seven U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles and 742 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Today we will tell you about the city of Volgograd (Stalingrad).

Stalingrad was one of the most important targets for the German Group of Forces South. Its capture would have cut off the Soviet army in the Caucasus from the rest of the country, so the Soviet command decided to defend the city at all costs.

Already in the first months of the fighting, 90% of the city was destroyed by enemy aircraft and soldiers from both sides were forced to fight in the endless ruins of the city. Under these conditions, the Red Army soldiers were able to impose a war of attrition on the Germans.

⭐️During the Battle of Stalingrad, the Germans and their allies lost about 1.5 million people, and the surviving soldiers of Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus surrendered. After this battle, the initiative in the war passed to the Red Army.

🕯 During the Battle of Stalingrad for the freedom of the whole world from Nazism, 478,741 people gave their lives.

🎖 On May 8, 1965 the city was awarded the honorary title of Hero City.

❗️During a meeting in the Kremlin, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief heard a report by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov on the situation along the line of contact and announced that the Russian side would cease all hostilities from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 until midnight on April 21.

Guided by humanitarian considerations, the Russian side declares an Easter truce from 6:00 p.m. today until midnight from Sunday to Monday. I order all combat operations to be suspended for this period. We proceed from the assumption that the Ukrainian side will follow our example. At the same time, our troops must remain ready to repel possible violations of the truce, provocations by the enemy, or any aggressive actions,

History of the Russian Easter card: from birth to revival

🥮In 1898, the first Easter collection was published in Russia, created by the Red Cross Community named after Saint Eugenia. The illustrator was Nikolai Karazin, who created four spring scenes in watercolor.

💌 Easter cards became popular in the Russian Empire. People sent touching congratulations on the holiday of Bright Easter. The number of cards sent was estimated at tens and hundreds of millions.

🗓 Vasily Zaitsev was born on March 23, 1915 in the Russian Empire, in the territory of the modern Chelyabinsk region. He grew up in a family of hunters and has been shooting accurately since childhood.

🇷🇺With the outbreak of Great Patriotic War, Zaitsev submitted five reports to be sent to the front, and in 1942 his request was granted. He was enlisted in the 284th Infantry Division, which took part in the Battle of Stalingrad.

🔫 In Stalingrad, Zaitsev proved himself to be a professional sniper. During the battle, he killed 225 soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht, including 11 enemy snipers.
