Only two people in Uzbekistan had scored 8.5 in writing three times — now you’re the third — @sadriddinovj

There are fighters, champions, and the elite — and you’re elite, fam. I never had even the slightest doubt about that.

FYI, we’re only the second channel in the whole country to have two Niner owners.

The bar chart shows the average pricing of textiles in six countries — Argentina, Brazil, Japan, China, India, and Bangladesh — from 1993 to 2003. The charged amounts are in GBP, and the rate of charge depends on length of the fabric.

Overall, countries outside Asia — Argentina and Brazil — placed the highest prices per kilometer of clothing, with the former seeing a marginal decrease, while the latter witnessed virtually no change. By contrast, pricing dynamics shifted more significantly in Asian regions: China, India, and Bangladesh, a country with the cheapest clothing, all had their clothing prices nearly double over the period. Meanwhile, Japan was the only Asian country to, in a similar fashion to Argentina, follow a downward trend.

Examining the regions where the price was set higher, Argentina led with around 28 pounds per km of clothing in 1993, a figure slightly exceeding Brazil's 23 pounds. Over the following decade, there was a minimal decline in Argentinian prices to about 26 pounds, while prices in Brazil leveled out at the original 23 pounds, still trailing behind Argentina.

Turning to Asian countries where prices never went beyond 17 pounds for a kilometer of clothing, Japan charged the most in 1993, at 15 pounds, followed by China (10 GBP), India (7 GBP), and Bangladesh — only 3 pounds. By 2003, China came to set the highest price within this group — approximately 17 pounds. Prices in India and Bangladesh rose too, albeit to a lesser extent, reporting 12 and 6 GBPs, respectively. Japan, on the other hand, bucked the trend, with the price lowered to about 13 pounds, second only to China.

The other day, one of my students asked me what I enjoy doing in my free time. I simply said, “Sleeping.”

You might laugh, but to me, a good night’s sleep is non-negotiable. A wise man once said, “I’ve never seen an elite athlete who goes to bed after 11 p.m.” Success starts with rest. If you want to perform at your best — physically, mentally, or emotionally — sleep isn’t optional. It’s your secret weapon.

Some believe that robots play a crucial role in shaping humanity’s future, whereas others argue that they pose risks and could harm society.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion

In the modern world, where robotic technologies are more advanced than ever, some believe that robots will play an indispensable role in shaping humanity’s future. Others, however, warn of the potential dangers these machines pose, suggesting that they may ultimately cause more harm than good. While both perspectives are worth considering, I believe that robots are likely to benefit global society—provided their development is regulated wisely.

One of the most immediate and practical applications of robotics can be seen in mass production. Today, robots are widely employed in industries like automobile and electronics manufacturing, where they significantly boost efficiency and precision. Looking ahead, their presence is expected to grow, particularly in agriculture. For example, automated systems such as robotic harvesters and drones could help address food shortages by increasing productivity and minimizing the dependence on manual labour. This shift could be crucial in meeting the nutritional demands of a growing global population, especially in regions where arable land is limited or the agricultural workforce is shrinking.

Beyond food production, robotics also play a critical role in scientific exploration—especially in environments too dangerous for humans. Missions to places like the deep ocean or the surface of Mars carry significant risks to human life, but robots can operate in such extreme conditions without the need for oxygen, warmth, or rest. Submersible vehicles with robotic limbs, for instance, are already being tested for underwater research, while Mars rovers like Perseverance continue to collect valuable geological data. In this sense, robots are not replacing human effort but are extending our capabilities into areas that were once inaccessible.

Healthcare, too, stands to benefit enormously from robotic advancements. A promising frontier is the integration of nanotechnology into medicine. In the near future, microscopic robots could enter the human body to monitor internal functions, detect illnesses at their earliest stages, and administer treatment with exceptional precision. At the same time, the global mental health crisis continues to escalate. Feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression affect millions, and robots designed to provide emotional support could offer meaningful relief. While they cannot replace genuine human connection, such companions might offer comfort and stability, especially for the elderly or socially isolated.

That said, the concerns voiced by critics should not be ignored. A major issue is the potential for job displacement in industries susceptible to automation. Equally troubling are the implications for personal privacy, as robots equipped with surveillance technology could be misused for unethical purposes. These risks underscore the need for comprehensive regulation. Collaboration between governments and technology firms will be essential to ensure that robots are developed within clear ethical frameworks, adhere to global safety standards, and remain firmly under human control.

To conclude, although the debate over robotic technology continues, its benefits seem to outweigh the drawbacks—so long as its evolution is guided responsibly. Whether it is improving food production, enabling groundbreaking research, or enhancing healthcare, robots hold enormous promise for humanity’s future, as long as we remain vigilant in maintaining ethical and safety standards.

The line chart illustrates the birth rates in the United States and China between 1920 and 2000. Overall, although both countries experienced a general downward trend, China’s decline was more pronounced. The birth rate in the United States remained higher for most of the period, with the exception of two brief intervals in the first half of the century.

In 1920, the US birth rate was approximately 11%, slightly higher than China’s 10%. Over the following decade, both nations showed a fluctuating pattern, culminating in a sharp rise around 1930, when China’s birth rate peaked at 15%, while the US experienced a more modest increase to 12%.

From 1930 to 1945, both countries witnessed significant declines. China’s birth rate dropped dramatically to a low of 5%, and the US figure fell to 6%. This was followed by a sudden and steep rise in China, where the rate soared to 20% — the highest point in the entire graph — before embarking on a steady decline with minor fluctuations, ultimately falling to around 2% by 2000.

In comparison, the US birth rate also rose during the same period, albeit less dramatically, peaking at about 14%. Thereafter, it followed a more gradual downward trend, ending at 7% by the year 2000.

The line chart illustrates the percentage of Australian exports sent to Japan, the United States, China, and India between 1990 and 2012. Overall, while exports to China and India increased markedly, shipments to Japan and the United States experienced steady declines. By the end of the period, China had become Australia’s top export destination, followed by Japan, the US, and India.

In 1990, Japan received the largest share of Australian exports, accounting for over 26%. However, this figure dropped sharply to approximately 20% by 1995, followed by a more gradual decline, reaching just under 17% in 2012. In contrast, China started the period with a modest 3%, but saw a dramatic and sustained rise — especially after 2000 — to become the largest export destination at 28% by the end of the period.

Exports to the United States fluctuated around the 10% mark until 2000, after which there was a decline, with the figure stabilizing at around 6% by 2012. Meanwhile, India remained a minor export partner for much of the period, maintaining just 1% until around 2000. However, it then experienced a significant increase, peaking at 7% in 2010, temporarily surpassing the US, before falling slightly below it by 2012.

The line chart illustrates the production levels of three forest-related products — paper and packaging, sawn-wood, and wood pulp — in the UK between 1980 and 2000.

Overall, paper and packaging consistently had the highest production volume and saw the most substantial growth over the period. In contrast, sawn-wood production declined steadily, while wood pulp experienced a minor decrease followed by a modest recovery, eventually surpassing sawn-wood.

In 1980, paper and packaging output was approximately 230 million tonnes. This figure rose moderately to 250 million by 1990, before experiencing a sharper increase over the next decade, reaching 350 million tonnes by 2000 — the highest level among all categories throughout the period.

Sawn-wood production began at exactly 200 million tonnes in 1980 and exhibited a steady downward trend, falling to just under 140 million tonnes by 2000. Meanwhile, wood pulp production was initially lower, at around 165 million tonnes. It declined slightly to 150 million in 1990 but then recovered marginally, finishing the period at just above 155 million tonnes.

The line chart and table illustrate the average annual temperatures and total yearly sunshine hours in London, New York, and Sydney.

Overall, London and New York experience similar four-season climates, though New York exhibits more extreme temperature fluctuations. In contrast, Sydney follows a reverse seasonal pattern due to its Southern Hemisphere location, with milder overall temperatures. Regarding sunshine, New York receives the most hours annually, closely followed by Sydney, while London receives significantly less.

Looking first at London and New York, both cities experience a noticeable decline in temperatures beginning in November. Their temperatures converge at just over 10°C before diverging further in winter. New York's temperature drops steeply to a low of below 5°C in January and February, whereas London remains milder, reaching a minimum of approximately 9°C. In the warmer months, temperatures in both cities climb steadily, with London peaking at around 23°C in July, and New York reaching nearly 30°C.

Sydney, in contrast, sees its highest temperatures from December to February, plateauing above 25°C, before gradually cooling to below 15°C from June through October — the opposite pattern to the other two cities.

As for annual sunshine hours, New York ranks highest with 2,535 hours, slightly ahead of Sydney at 2,473. London receives considerably fewer hours, totaling just 1,180 annually.

The bar charts show the average daily time spent on leisure reading and listening to music by people of different ages in New Zealand.

Overall, there is a clear correlation between age and reading time: the older the people, the more time they dedicate to this activity. By contrast, time spent listening to music varies greatly for different age groups, with the youngest group spending the most time engaged in music.

Individuals aged 55 and over emerge as the most active readers, with the daily time averaging 70 minutes — just over an hour. This figure stands in great contrast to only 20 minutes spent by the youngest readers (aged 15 to 24), representing a third of an hour. Other three age demographics all spend an average of over 30 minutes. More precisely, people aged 25-34 read for around 35 minutes, those in the bracket of 35-44 engaged in reading slightly more (close to 44 minutes), and the second-oldest category of people neared 50 minutes of reading time a day.

As for the time spent on listening to music, the youngest segment spends the largest amount of time at a whopping 80 minutes. People over 55 follow closely, with slightly less time of nearly 75 minutes. In contrast, the 35-44 age group listen to music the least — only around 44 minutes per day. Interestingly, individuals belonging to age groups of 25 to 34 and 45 to 54 dedicate the same amount of time to music (exactly an hour).

On 3 February, all the men were heading home. The ship reached Tokyo in June 1912 – and Shirase was greeted like a hero despite the fact that he never reached the pole. Nor did he contribute much to science – but then nor did Amundsen, whose only interest was in being first to the pole. Yet Shirase’s expedition was heroic. They travelled beyond 80° south, one of only four teams to have gone so far south at the time. Furthermore, they did it all without the advantages of the other teams and with no previous experience.

Buying things on the Internet, such as books, air tickets and groceries, is becoming more and more popular.

Do the advantages of shopping in this way outweigh the disadvantages?

As the internet becomes increasingly integrated into our daily lives, many people now rely on online shopping to purchase everything from books and groceries to airline tickets. I believe this shift is largely positive, as online shopping provides access to verified products from around the world, delivered quickly and conveniently. These advantages, among others, make any drawbacks relatively insignificant in comparison.

One of the most widely recognized benefits of online shopping is its 24/7 availability. For instance, if someone needs to book a last-minute flight during the night, online platforms are often the only option, as physical ticket offices typically operate only during business hours. This level of accessibility allows consumers to make important decisions even in urgent, unexpected situations.

Another major advantage is the broader range of products available online. Take Tashkent as an example: if someone wants to buy a car, their only affordable option might be a Chevrolet produced by General Motors. Furthermore, buyers often face limited choices in terms of color, engine specifications, and other features, and long wait times due to high demand. In contrast, online car marketplaces offer a wide variety of brands and models, many of which can be customized to suit personal preferences. These platforms not only provide convenience and variety, but also help counter monopolistic practices, contributing positively to the national economy.

Some critics argue that online shops can be deceptive, with misleading product descriptions or fake items. While it's true that online fraud has occurred in the past, such concerns are now less valid. Regulatory oversight has become much stricter in recent years, significantly reducing the chances of encountering counterfeit goods. As a result, consumers can shop online with greater confidence.

Others point out that the tactile experience of shopping—touching fabrics, trying on clothes, or inspecting goods in person—is lost online. I agree that this is a genuine drawback. Despite high-resolution images and detailed descriptions, digital screens cannot replicate the full sensory experience offered by physical stores. This makes conventional shopping more enjoyable for some consumers.

In conclusion, online shopping offers undeniable benefits, including convenience, variety, product customization, and fast delivery. While there are concerns about fraud and the lack of in-person experience, these are relatively minor compared to the overall advantages. For these reasons, I believe online shopping is a welcome development that enhances consumer choice and economic efficiency.

Many animal species are becoming extinct as a result of human activities.

What are the causes and possible solutions to this problem?

An increasing number of animals are on the brink of extinction due to human activities. While several factors contribute to this issue, it can be effectively addressed through government intervention.

One of the main causes of animal extinction is habitat loss. As the global population continues to grow, the demand for housing increases, leading to rapid urbanization. This expansion results in deforestation, as vast areas of land that once served as natural habitats are cleared for construction, severely affecting many species. A good case in point can be South American gorillas, which are facing extinction due to large-scale deforestation. Another significant factor is poaching. The demand for animal parts, such as elephant tusks and the fur of bears and tigers, is extremely high, making them highly valuable. As a result, illegal hunters continue to kill these animals for profit, pushing many species toward extinction.

However, this issue can be tackled through two key solutions. First, establishing protected areas can help safeguard endangered species. Wildlife reserves, for instance, provide a safe environment where animals can thrive without the threat of human interference. Additionally, artificial breeding programs can help increase the population of endangered species. A prime example is the giant panda, which was once on the verge of extinction. However, due to conservation efforts and breeding programs, their population has significantly increased over the past two decades. Equally important is the enforcement of stricter anti-poaching laws. Governments should implement harsher penalties to deter poachers from illegally hunting endangered animals. In some cases, severe punishments, such as life imprisonment or even the death penalty, may be necessary. China, for instance, has introduced strict regulations, including capital punishment, for those found guilty of killing protected species.

In conclusion, while habitat destruction and poaching are the primary causes of animal extinction, this problem can be mitigated through the creation of protected areas and the enforcement of stringent laws. By taking these measures, governments can ensure the survival of endangered species for future generations.

The table shows the total number of internet searches in the US in November 2004 and September 2010. Accompanying it is a line chart that illustrates the percentage of searches through five different search engines — Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, AQL, and Ask Jeeves — during the same period.

Overall, the number of searches nearly quadrupled over six years, with Google consistently used as the first-choice engine, followed by Yahoo as the second-best, while alternative engines trailed behind significantly. The dominance of Google only solidified over the period, while Yahoo saw a notable decline in its use, and other engines experienced little change.

The total number of online queries surged from only 4.5 billion in November of 2004 to a staggering 16 billion in September of 2010, marking an increase of well over 300%. Google was used most frequently in 2004, starting November at about 45%. This figure grew considerably by July of 2007, accounting for nearly 55% of total internet searches. The growth then tapered off, and the figure rose steadily to just over 60% by September 2010. Yahoo, on the other hand, witnessed a reverse trend. Comprising around 32% of the total searches in the beginning, the figure continually decreased to finish the period at 20%.

Microsoft, AQL, and Ask Jeeves, in comparison, were the platforms whose shares were a lot less significant. Microsoft, making up roughly 16% (2004), slightly dropped to around 15% by the end of the period. A similar trend can be seen with AQL: an initial figure of 9% decreased to under 5% by 2010. In terms of Ask Jeeves, however, barely any change was reported, with the same proportion of 5% throughout the period.

Nowadays, an increasing number of people with health problems are using alternative medicines and treatments instead of visiting their normal doctor.

Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Since the dawn of humanity, health has played a crucial role in people’s lives. In recent years, an increasing number of individuals suffering from various illnesses have turned to alternative medicine instead of traditional treatments. Personally, I see this trend in a negative light for multiple reasons.

There are some justifiable reasons for using alternative medicine. One notable advantage is convenience. Unlike conventional healthcare, which often requires time-consuming registration and appointments, alternative treatments are generally more accessible and affordable. For example, in Uzbekistan, many local practitioners offer medical services at a fraction of the cost, making them both time- and cost-effective. Another significant benefit is the use of natural remedies. Practices such as acupuncture have been used for centuries, suggesting they are both safe and effective. A good case in point is traditional Chinese medicine, where acupuncture is widely used to relieve chronic pain, reduce stress, and even treat conditions like migraines and arthritis.

Despite these upsides, I believe the downsides of alternative medicine far outweigh its benefits. One frequently cited concern is the lack of credibility and reliability. Many non-traditional practitioners lack formal medical qualifications, increasing the risk of misdiagnosis. This can be particularly dangerous for individuals with serious illnesses, including cancer or diabetes, as a single mistake could accelerate their condition and even lead to fatal consequences. Furthermore, alternative medicine often lacks scientific validation. Many so-called ‘healers’ do not have access to state-of-the-art medical technology, making it difficult to diagnose illnesses accurately. A useful comparison can be drawn with developed nations such as Germany, where healthcare systems rely on advanced, evidence-based medical practices, leaving little room for alternative treatments.

In conclusion, while alternative medicine offers some advantages, such as affordability and accessibility, I firmly believe that its risks—particularly its lack of scientific credibility and potential for misdiagnosis—make it a far less reliable option compared to conventional medicine.

Today, many people use the internet and smartphones to transfer money to friends, family, and businesses.

Is this a positive or negative development?

Nowadays, an increasing number of people rely on online applications to transfer money to their family members, friends, and businesses. While some concerns exist, I firmly believe that this shift is largely a positive development.

There are certain drawbacks to online money transfers. One major issue is the heightened risk of financial fraud. Many individuals, particularly the elderly who lack technological literacy, often fall victim to scams. For instance, my uncle, who was working abroad, received multiple messages soliciting donations for a welfare program. Being a trusting individual, he transferred a significant amount of money, only to later realize that the program was fraudulent, resulting in the loss of his hard-earned earnings. Additionally, technical issues such as app malfunctions, internet outages, or transaction delays can sometimes create inconvenience, especially in urgent situations where immediate financial assistance is required.

These negatives notwithstanding, I think that the advantages of online money transfers far outweigh the disadvantages. One key benefit is convenience. Regardless of age, gender, or location, individuals can send money to their loved ones instantly, reducing physical distance and enhancing comfort. Most online transfer apps are user-friendly and secure, requiring minimal technical knowledge. For example, many Uzbeks working in Russia rely on these platforms to send substantial amounts of money to their families daily, ensuring financial support and maintaining strong family ties. Another important upside is cost-effectiveness. Traditional methods of transferring money, such as bank wire transfers or remittance services, often involve high fees. In contrast, many online platforms offer lower transaction costs, making financial transfers more affordable for individuals and businesses alike.

In conclusion, although concerns such as fraud and technical issues exist, I contend that the benefits of online money transfers—such as convenience, security, and cost-effectiveness—far outweigh the drawbacks, making them a largely positive development.

Young people are often influenced in their behaviors by others in the same age group. Some argue that peer pressure is important while others feel it has distinct disadvantages.

Do the disadvantages of peer pressure outweigh the advantages?

It is often said that peer pressure plays a significant role in shaping people’s behavior, with some arguing that its effects can be detrimental. While there are certain drawbacks, I believe that the benefits far outweigh them.

There are several downsides to peer pressure. One major drawback is the increased likelihood of negative emotions. People frequently experience feelings of jealousy, stress, and self-comparison when influenced by their peers, which can lead to overthinking and a decline in self-esteem. A striking example is students preparing for exams. When a group of friends diligently studies and strives for academic success, some individuals may struggle to keep up, potentially leading to feelings of inadequacy and resentment. Even worse, peer pressure can result in social exclusion. Social hierarchy undeniably exists and has a profound impact on people’s lives. In schools, for instance, children from affluent families may receive the latest smartphones, while those from less privileged backgrounds may not have access to such luxuries. Consequently, they may feel isolated and experience a sense of inferiority.

Despite these negatives, I believe the advantages of peer pressure are more significant. One notable positive is the encouragement of healthy competition. Witnessing peers achieve great things can serve as a powerful motivation, fostering confidence and ambition. The workplace provides a relevant example. If an employee earns a pay raise due to their dedication and commitment, it can inspire their colleagues to work harder and strive for similar recognition. Another key upside of peer pressure is its ability to promote positive lifestyle changes. Individuals struggling with obesity, for example, may be influenced by their health-conscious friends to adopt better eating habits and engage in regular exercise. This demonstrates how social circles play a crucial role in personal development. A case in point is my own uncle, who was overweight for many years. Due to the encouragement and pressure from his close friends, he adopted a healthier lifestyle and drastically improved his well-being.

In conclusion, although peer pressure has some demerits, such as emotional distress and social exclusion, I maintain that its merits—fostering healthy competition and encouraging positive lifestyle changes—are far more significant.
