📜 Крест - символ Великой пятницы. Когда-то крест был самым страшным орудием казни, до которого смогли додуматься люди. Позорным и чрезвычайно жестоким. Смерть на кресте была не просто мучительной, но и долгой.

Преступника, приговоренного к распятию, сначала раздевали, оставляя только узкое препоясание вокруг бедер, потом он, беззащитный и униженный, под взглядами толпы, понукаемый стражниками, нес свой крест или только поперечную перекладину креста долгим скорбным путем - к месту казни. У Иисуса это был путь на Голгофу, Лобное место в переводе с греческого. Затем несчастного привязывали к крестному древу, веревками поднимали наверх и пригвождали его руки и ноги.

Крестной смерти подвергали только рабов, римским гражданам, совершившим даже самые страшные преступления, попросту отсекали головы.

Страданиям на Кресте предшествуют предательство, неправедный суд, унижение, поношение, оплевывание, насмешки и осмеяние, злословие, издевательства. А еще бичевание. Историки уточняют, что стоит за этим Евангельским словом - тридцать девять ударов длинным пятихвостым бичом, к каждому хвосту которого прикреплены свинцовые шарики. Удары таким бичом рассекали тело до кости.

Пятница перед Пасхой получила это название, потому что именно в этот день Иисус перенес:

страдания в теле (бичевание, терновый венец, крест);
страдания в душе (предательство, одиночество, насмешки);
страдания духовные (бремя грехов всего мира).
