Today, I’m sharing something that might seem small to some, but means the world to me.
Yes, it’s "just another 7," and I know many might say, "Don’t make a big deal out of it." But for me, it marks one of the greatest milestones in our journey.

This result belongs to Khilola, a student of Oybek — one of our teachers at Orient Academy.
While I’ve personally helped hundreds of students achieve 7+ scores, this is the first time a student taught by a teacher from our own team has got this score.

I still remember the pride and joy I felt when my very first student scored a 7.
Today, I feel that same pride — but multiplied — because it’s not just about me anymore.
It’s about our team. Our teachers. Our future.

This is just the beginning.
InshaAllah, this summer you will see a big blow of results from the incredible teachers at Orient Academy.

We are growing, and this is only the start.

Congrats Oybek-@mrmind03

Teaching is fun sometimes
Bad weather- a few students are missing in the class
The end of the week- another few disappear
and it is always interesting to listen to their ridiculous excuses
Who else can relate to that?

Some people think that the best way to improve road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving a car or motorbike .

To what extent do you agree or disagree?
According to some people, raising the legal age at which people become eligible to start driving is the most effective way to make roads safer. While this viewpoint makes sense on some grounds, I personally take issue with it.

On the one hand, the idea to increase the driving age may work. In most countries, people can acquire a driver’s license when they reach 18, which might be considered too early. This is because youngsters at this age are usually not mature enough to understand the consequences of their actions. This immaturity leads to irresponsible behavior while driving which, in most cases, ends with accidents. This argument is compounded by the fact that people, as young as 18, tend to act impulsively by breaking the speed limit or violating traffic rules and the consequences of such actions are obvious. From this perspective, changing the legal age for driving a car or a motorbike can be a sensible course of action.

However, to me, the given solution to improving safety on roads is likely to have a limited effect. For a start, age is not the sole factor causing road accidents. There is no doubt that drivers of all ages are involved in car accidents not just young ones. This goes to show that factors such as experience, behavior on the wheel and adherence to traffic rules also play a big role. In addition, what matters more than the age of a driver is their experience. Usually, major contributing factor to road collisions is inexperience. An illustration of this is that even people who have had long experience of driving sometimes get involved in crashes due to fatigue, distractions or overconfidence. Therefore, if people start driving at an earlier age, and accumulate experience, this, in fact, can increase road safety.

In conclusion, allowing people to drive a car or a motorbike at a later age could somehow improve road safety. Nevertheless, I am convinced that it is unlikely to have a large scale impact as there are many more causes of poor safety on roads.

The maps illustrate the changes made to the ground floor of a university between 2000 and 2015.
The maps compare the layout of the ground floor of one university in 2000 and in 2015 after redevelopment.
Overall, the ground floor of the university was significantly expanded with the addition of new seminar rooms and enlargement of office space. It is also clear that an additional smaller building was constructed to the east of the main building at the expense of trees.

In 2000, the ground floor and areas surrounding it looked basic. The university building was accessed through the main road in the south. Students coming through a long main entrance came to a corridor with a library and an office just to the right with one seminar room above these and another two to the left. An open area with trees scattered around occupied the eastern part of the main building.

The university now operated in a much expanded building in 2015. The changes made to the ground floor were the addition of two new seminar rooms along with the expansion of the office into the former library space. All the trees were cleared to make way for a new building where a new it center and a small corridor in the middle and the library were located. one final development was a new car park built right to the east of the main entrance.

The table compares the earnings of teachers working at secondary and high schools along with how long it took to reach top salary in five countries in the year 2009.
The table compares how much teachers were paid in five countries along with=as well as how long it took them to reach top salary in the year 2009.
Overall, Luxembourg led across all three salary categories including starting, annual and maximum, lagging others far behind. It is also clear that compared to the other three countries, it took far less for teachers to become eligible for top salary in Japan and korea.

Luxembourg was a clear outlier in that (for the reason that) it led across all salary categories.

Comparing=focusing on the salaries of teachers first, Luxembourg was a clear outlier with the highest figures across all three categories of 80000$ starting, 112000$ average and maximum of 139000$. Meanwhile, the starting salary of teachers in Denmark was the second highest at 47000$, while in the rest of the countries this averaged around 30000$. In terms of yearly salaries, however, the difference=disparity=discrepancy between countries was not that pronounced at between 54000$ and 48000$. As for maximum salaries, noticeable differences were observed. After Luxembourg, Korea was the second paying teachers 84500$, followed by Japan at 62400$, next by Denmark and Australia at 52000 and 48000$ respectively.
The period it took teachers to reach top salary varied significantly. Korea was the country where teaching professionals had to work the longest to earn top salary-37 years, closely followed by Japan at 34 years and Luxembourg at 30 years. By contrast, this period was much shorter for teachers in Australia and Denmark at less than 10 years.

"Clear-cut" means obvious, easy to understand, or clearly defined. It describes something that is not confusing or uncertain.
________________________________________
✅ Examples:
• There is no clear-cut answer to this question.
(Bu savolga aniq va oson javob yo‘q.)
• The rules are clear-cut and easy to follow.
(Qoidalar aniq va bajarish oson.)

The phrase “scratch the surface (of something)” means to only begin to understand, explore, or deal with a small part of something — usually something much deeper or more complex.
________________________________________
✅ Examples:
• We’ve only scratched the surface of what AI can do.
(Biz sun’iy intellekt nimalarga qodir ekanini endigina yuzaki ko‘rib chiqdik.)
• This book scratches the surface of world history — there’s much more to learn.
(Bu kitob jahon tarixini faqat yuzaki ko‘rib chiqadi — o‘rganiladigan narsa juda ko‘p.)

The phrase "to be compliant with" means to follow or obey rules, laws, standards, or requirements.
________________________________________
✅ Examples:
• The company is compliant with safety regulations.
(Kompaniya xavfsizlik qoidalariga rioya qiladi.)
• Your software must be compliant with international data protection laws.
(Sizning dasturingiz xalqaro ma'lumotlarni himoya qilish qonunlariga mos bo‘lishi kerak.)

The table illustrates the changes in the distribution of global market share for computers and notebooks in the years 2006 and 2007.
Overall, HP, dell and Toshiba were the only three companies in the table with a rise in their market share. It is also clear that hp dominated the computer market with a significantly large market share.
Focusing first on companies that showed rises in their market shares, HP was a clear outsider in that (for the reason that) it owned 31.4% of the global computer market and this figure rose further to 34%, maintaining hp’s dominance. Dell was another company with a considerably larger market share with its share rising by nearly 4% from initial 16.6%- the biggest rise. Meanwhile, while Toshiba’s market share was much lower than the above two, it also exhibited a growth by slightly more than 1% from 6.2%.
All other companies, by contrast, recorded falls in their market shares. The company with the biggest loss was Fujitsu-Siemens as its figure more than halved to 2.3%. On the other hand, Acer and Lenovo also saw declines, albeit to a much lesser degree, by less than 1% from 11.6% and 6.6% respectively. Finally, other unidentified companies also experienced a reduction in their market share from 22.8% to 19.3%.

The debate over whether modern cities should prioritize developing an efficient public transport system or focus on other essential aspects has been a topic of ongoing discussion. While a well-functioning transportation network is undeniably crucial, I believe that cities should not limit their efforts to this alone. Instead, they should also address other vital sectors that contribute to overall urban development.

Enhancing public transportation is essential for several reasons. Firstly, almost every developing city today struggles with traffic-related issues, including congestion, rush-hour gridlocks, and frequent accidents. To mitigate these problems, urban centers are often encouraged to invest in public transportation systems, as this can encourage more people to opt for buses and trains instead of private vehicles. However, if public transport services are unreliable or inefficient, people are unlikely to make the switch. Additionally, as city populations continue to grow, expanding and modernizing public transport becomes even more critical. A fundamental responsibility of any city is to provide essential infrastructure and services for its residents, and transportation is a key component of this. Neglecting it not only creates inconvenience but may also lead to widespread public dissatisfaction.

Nevertheless, it would be unwise for cities to allocate all their resources solely to improving public transportation while overlooking other essential sectors. One such area is healthcare, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of the population. A well-functioning healthcare system not only enhances public health but also fosters a productive workforce, which directly contributes to economic growth. Another equally important sector is education. High-quality schools, universities, and vocational institutions equip young people with the necessary knowledge and skills, ensuring a steady supply of professionals in various fields. This, in turn, strengthens the city's long-term development and competitiveness.

In conclusion, while investing in public transport is necessary to address traffic congestion and improve urban mobility, I believe it should not be the sole priority. Other sectors, such as healthcare and education, are equally vital and deserve the same level of attention to create a well-rounded and sustainable urban environment.

It took me more than 20 attempts to get a 9, and it was indeed a long journey. Falling short by 0.5 several times, I had even lost hope at times. Every time I went into the exam—especially in my last few attempts—each one felt emotionally exhausting. But eventually, it’s here, and I feel so relieved now.

I know getting a 9 is not as impressive as it used to be, but I always told myself that I wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t achieve it, and that mindset has led me up until this point.

Juggling all these responsibilities—running the learning center, managing my family, and preparing for IELTS—was, as far as I can tell, no easy job.

As I write this reflection post, there are people I feel truly thankful for.

First is Khurshidaka Urokov, my English teacher and mentor—the same person I ended up working for after taking my first IELTS exam. When I think of my journey with him, I’m always fascinated by how Allah arranges us around people for a reason. Among many language schools, my brother got to know him and sent me to his classes before he had even founded Everest and later on I ended up working in the same place. I mean I could have studied English somewhere else and everything could have been different.

And I am deeply grateful for the contribution my brother made. If it weren’t for him, who knows where I would be now? Back then, my parents were ordinary working-class people who couldn’t afford my English studies, but my brother stepped up and paid for all of it. It indeed turned out to be a worthwhile investment.

My friends Dilmurod and Isfandiyor, both of whom are my colleagues, were also important parts of this journey. While working as teachers, we spent a lot of time helping each other and preparing for exams together during the early years of our careers—and the one we did with Dilmurod during COVID-19 was real fun. Thank you, guys.

And my little brother Iskandar, who was always rooting for me and giving me motivation 😅.

And last but not least, I wanna thank myself for believing in me.
I wanna thank myself for doing all the hard work. 😂

Every language learner should have a vocabulary notebook like this one here and you should always carry it around with you, take note of every new word or phrase you learn and revise what you have written every now and then.
If you are learning a language and still dont keep such a notebook, you are probably doing it the wrong way!

In some societies, sports and entertainment figures are more valued than professionals such as doctors and teachers.
Why is this the case, and do you consider it a positive or negative trend?

Educators and healthcare providers have always been held in high regard in many societies. Yet the attention is now shifting toward sports and entertainment stars. Several factors have contributed to this trend and I personally deem it to be a change for the worse.

Increasing tendency in some countries to place more value on athletes and entertainment celebrities is linked to two key reasons. One has to do with the contribution such people make to the international recognition of a nation. By winning international competitions and appearing in films and producing songs enjoyed internationally, sportspeople, singers and films stars make a country internationally known. The fame earned this way then allows to raise the international profile of a country and allows it to establish trade links with other countries. Another factor that is causing some countries to give too much importance to celebrities is their roles as idols for young people. With the explosion of social media, young people nowadays are increasingly being exposed to the lives of famous people who showcase their luxurious lives on platforms like Instagram and facebook. This increased exposure has, in turn, caused more and more youngsters to admire such people and aspire to follow in their footsteps, increasing their importance.

I personally view the greater appreciation of celebrities over teachers and doctors as negative. The primary reason is the critical role these individuals play in society. While it is educators who raise the future generation of countries, who will contribute greatly contribute to the progress and prosperity of any nation, healthcare professionals are also equally essential in that they ensure the health and well-being of the public. Without specialists in these two areas, a country would undoubtedly struggle. Moreover, the problem with more and more young people idealizing celebrities is that it can potentially lead to the devaluation of other important professions in society. When the majority of young people look up to entertainers and influencers who offer little real impact beyond entertainment, the value of real-life role models such as teachers, doctors and scientists will be undermined. In the long run, as a result of fewer young people pursuing careers in education, healthcare and science, countries may have to deal with the shortage of professionals these fields, which can potentially impact their progress negatively.

In conclusion, increasing respect toward celebrities instead of doctors and teachers is due to their contribution in raising the internation profile of a country and increased exposure to their lives on social media. However, I am convinced that this is an undesirable development as it can lead to devaluation of important professionals and a decline in interest in essential careers.

The line graph below shows the population size, birth rate and the death rate of England and wales from 1700 to 2000.
The line-graph illustrates the demographic rates of England and Wales between 1700 and 2000.
Overall, the population rate of the given two countries jumped, with the figure rising almost continually year by year. Meanwhile, birth and death rates exhibited a somewhat similar trend, though the former always stood higher than the latter.
Focusing on population size first, it made up only 2,5 million in 1700. After a rise to 10 million over the following 50 years, 50 years of no change was observed. From 1800 onwards, the population rate started to grow exponentially, reaching 50 million in 2000.

Birth and death rates followed an almost identical pattern for most of the period. In 1700, birth rate was 30 per 1000 people, while death rate was around 27 per 1000. With figures fluctuating significantly, this difference continued until 1850 when the gap widened for the next 50 years. Following another dip in 1950, birth and death rates almost converged at around 20 per 1000 people. While death rate remained unchanged at this level until the end of the period, the birth rate increased noticeably to about 34 births per 1000 people day 28 task 1

Fewer and fewer people today write by hand using a pen or pencil.
What are the reasons for this?
Is this a positive or a negative development?
Very few people opt for writing by hand these days. This phenomenon is mainly attributed(=linked) to advancements in technology and in my opinion, it is generally a change for the better.
The emergence of digital writing tools has mainly contributed to a decline in the use of handwriting and such tools are indeed superior to handwriting in many ways. For one, they are accessible to almost anyone with a computer or a mobile phone. In this digital era, many people especially young people would obviously prefer not to carry pens, pencils and notebooks to take notes or write and instead prefer to use their devices to that end. Moreover, the most appealing feature of these writing software is the auto correction service they offer. Applications such as Microsoft word, for example, either highlight spelling or grammatical errors or correct them on its own, which obviously makes the process of writing much stress-free and straightforward.
The shift in writing preferences of people is positive, I think. Modern writing applications are more convenient and therefore ease=facilitate the writing process considerably. Thanks to the availability of such apps, writing is no longer a physically demanding activity where one sits for hours and gets weary hands. In addition, digitalization of writing has led to easier access to information. In the past, when writing was mainly done on scripts earlier and then on paper, valuable information was only available to a handful of individuals or difficult to access. However, nowadays, digitally created documents can be uploaded or sent easily, making information more accessible.
In conclusion, developments in technology have contributed to the gradual decline of handwriting. I am of the view that this phenomenon is desirable.

Some people think that the modern communication technology is having a negative effect on social relationships.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
New technologies have changed the way we interact with each-other significantly and some view their impact on communication negatively. While such worries are valid in some respects, I personally believe that the positive changes brought these advancements are far more significant.
There are valid reasons to believe that modern technology has had an adverse effect on communication between people. One potentially worrying consequence of technology could be that it could lead to the replacement of face-to-face communication. As more and more people choose to interact virtually, they may start to favor this mode over in-person meetings. The concern with this trend is that online communication does not usually help people improve people’s communication skills that come from engaging in face-to-face communication. Another disadvantageous impact of technology on communication is that it has led to the proliferation of superficial relationships. Online friendships are not usually as meaningful and valuable as traditional ones where people meet in person. This is largely because, in virtual worlds, people rarely present their true selves and tend to highlight only their positive qualities.

However, technology has facilitated communication in much more profound ways. Firstly, thanks to online communication tools such as social media, messengers such as telegram and Skype, we can now connect with others from literally any part of the globe within seconds. If it weren’t for such application, we would still have to rely on old means of communication such as mobile calls, telegraph or even letters. in addition to allowing us to connect with our loved ones instantly, these new forms of communication also have the added benefit of being significantly cheap. Additionally, new technologies have also brought convenience to how we communicate with each other. With everyone having packed schedules lately, sparing time to meet with our loved ones can sometimes prove difficult, and a time such as this, online communication apps enable people to keep in touch with others, without inconveniencing one another.

In conclusion, the impact of technology on communication can seem negative considering the fact that it can result in the loss of face-to-face interactions and the prevalence of superficial relationships. Nevertheless, I am convinced that modern technologies have eased communication considerably, making their overall impact positive.

Students should pay the full cost for their own study, because university education benefits individuals rather than society.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a viewpoint that students need to bear all the costs of university education as, after all, they are the ones, not society, who benefit from it. While there is some truth to this view, the thinking behind it is flawed in some ways.

The view that the advantages of university education mainly accrue to students thenselves sounds logical on the face of it. This is because a university degree usually secures a good future for graduates and many land stable jobs after graduation. Ultimately, they use their earnings to live comfortably. There are also other subtle benefits to studying at university including the relationships they build and personal growth they achieve.

Although university education indeed benefits students on a personal level, it is important not to overlook how they also contribute to society positively. Logically, the jobs we occupy after the completion of university help us make either direct or indirect impact on the community we live in. Take doctors as an example. Although they enjoy the money they make from their professions, they make a critical contrbution to society by looking after people’s health. Additionally, graduates bring speacialized knowledge and skills to various industries, improving productivity, efficiency and innovation. This clearly shows that they act as workforce for their countries.

In conclusion, some of the personal benefits university education affords are boost to one’s income and professional networking as well as personal development. Nevertheless, the advantages of studying at umiversoty extend beyond these by helping them serve as essential nemebrs of society. Therefore, I think it is wrong to think that they should cover all the expenses involved in university education.

The maps illustrate the current layout of one industrial site with its plan for redevlopment.

Overall, it is expected that the site will see a a complete makeover. What now is an industrial area with a factory and offices is expected to become a residential one full of different types of households.

At oresent, the industrial site is enclosed by Chimney road in the north, through which reception and entrance can be accessed, Toe lane in the west, pie walk in the east and Swallow street in the south. A yard occupies the central area with parking to the east and factory to the west along with offices as well as a canteen inside one building and a seperate storage building located in the southern part.

Following redevelopment, the are will look much more dense with the construction of houses. A row of 2-bedroom houses and communal gardens will be built at the expense of the reception and yard, while office space will be turned into parking garages. Meanwhile, 3 and 4 bedroom homes are predicted to occupy the area currently held by the parking lot and storage. Finally, another parking area and apartments are planned in the place of the factory and all these facilities will be accessed through private roads.
