The Vatican reported closing St. Peter's Basilica and square for Rite of Sealing of the Coffin of the late Pope Francis, ahead of the papal funeral on Saturday morning, which Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church will preside at.

As the mortal remains lied in state, over 250.000 people have filed past the altar since the Vatican Basilica opened to the faithful on Wednesday morning.

Pope Francis’ funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Square, marking the beginning of the Novemdiales, the tradition of nine days of mourning and Masses for the repose of the late Pope’s soul.

🇮🇳🇵🇰 Border Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan After Kashmir Attack

Pakistani armed forces opened fire along the Line of Control with India, prompting a response from Indian troops, according to defence sources reported Friday. No casualties were reported.

The incident follows a deadly terrorist attack on Tuesday in the tourist area of Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which left at least 26 dead—25 Indian and one Nepali. Indian intelligence linked the attackers to Pakistan-based militants using remote coordination.

Indian forces also clashed with Islamists in Bandipora and destroyed homes of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. In response to the escalating tensions, both nations have taken further steps to reduce trade and diplomatic ties, which have remained strained since India revoked Kashmir's autonomy in 2019.

🇻🇪 Investigation Into Forced Disappearance Opened by Venezuela

📢 Communiqué:

The Public Ministry reports that it has opened an investigation into the forced disappearance of Venezuelan citizen Ricardo Prada, detained in late January 2025 in Michigan and subsequently held in a maximum-security facility in Texas.

Prada worked as a delivery driver in Detroit and was detained by U.S. authorities for deportation. In late March, Prada informed a friend that he was being held in a maximum-security detention center in Texas, after which his whereabouts became unknown.

A New York Times report states that Prada does not appear among the deportees to El Salvador who are being arbitrarily detained at CECOT. The article also notes that U.S. authorities claimed Prada was deported but have not disclosed his destination.

A prosecutor specializing in human rights protection has been assigned to lead the investigation and will take the necessary steps to locate our compatriot.

The Public Ministry condemns the treatment of Venezuelan migrants in the U.S. and El Salvador, reiterating that these acts constitute crimes against humanity.

▪️ The Vatican began this Wednesday the transfer of Pope Francis' coffin from the Casa Santa Marta to St. Peter's Basilica, where it will lie in state at the Altar of Confession.

🔥This Tuesday, April 22, a large wildfire has broken out in some regions of southern New Jersey, USA.

🗣Evacuations have been carried out so far as the fire threatens nearby homes and buildings.

✒️Also, authorities have ordered evacuations and closure of sections of the Garden State Parkway, especially near Waretown and Forked River, New Jersey.

💡More than 13,000 people are currently without power. Dense smoke and towering flames are visible from miles away. The fire has already burned more than 3,200 acres and remains 5% contained.

🚒Law enforcement and emergency agencies have responded to the rapidly spreading blaze near the coast.
