U.S. officials made “very good” progress during the second round of nuclear talks with Iran in Rome and plan to meet with their Tehran’s counterparts next week. 

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff held both direct and indirect discussions during the meeting that lasted more than four hours, according to a U.S. official. 

“We agreed to meet again next week and are grateful to our Omani partners for facilitating these talks and to our Italian partners for hosting us today,” a senior U.S. administration official said. 

Araghchi said after the meeting that progress on “principles and objectives” of a potential deal was made and that technical-level discussions will start in the “coming day.”

Russia and Ukraine exchanged hundreds of POWs on Saturday. Russia’s Ministry of Defense said that 246 Russian service members were returned from territory controlled by Kyiv, and that “as a gesture of goodwill” 31 wounded Ukrainian POWs were transferred in exchange for 15 wounded Russian soldiers in need of urgent medical care.

Zelenskyy said that 277 Ukrainian “warriors” have returned home from Russian captivity.

Both sides thanked the United Arab Emirates for their mediation.

Putin’s ceasefire announcement came after U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are “coming to a head” and insisted that neither side is “playing” him in his push to end the grinding three-year war.

Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered his forces to cease all military activity until midnight Sunday — but cautioned that Russia would not hesitate to respond to attacks by Ukraine over the course of the proposed Easter truce.

The Russian leader said he expected Ukraine to follow Russia’s example, and added that Kyiv’s reaction would demonstrate whether it was earnest about seeking a peaceful resolution to the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to reject the proposal Saturday, describing it as an “attempt to play with people’s lives.” Zelensky said that at 5:15, less than an hour before the proposed truce was set to go into effect, Russian drones were spotted over Ukraine, prompting air alerts across the country.

“Shaheds in our skies are Putin’s true attitude to Easter and to people’s lives,” Zelensky said, referring to the Iranian Shahed-136 drone used by Russia.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement Saturday that it would adhere to the pause in fighting on the condition that Ukraine did so as well.

A Minnesota state employee was reportedly busted for allegedly causing approximately $20,000 in damage while vandalizing Teslas — just weeks after failed vice presidential candidate and Gov. Tim Walz publicly mocked the electric car company’s falling stock.

Dylan Bryan Adams, a 33-year-old fiscal policy analyst for the North Star State, was arrested on suspicion of keying multiple Teslas in Minneapolis while out walking his dog in an act of destruction caught on vehicle surveillance, according to a Minnesota-based crime watch account.

Adams was allegedly seen approaching a vehicle from the Elon Musk-owned automaker with his dog and then abruptly dragging his keys down the side of the car, stripping what appeared to be paint off the electric vehicles, the watchdog group posted to X Friday.

Iran and the United States started a new round of nuclear talks in Rome on Saturday to resolve their decades-long standoff over Tehran's atomic aims, under the shadow of President Donald Trump's threat to unleash military action if diplomacy fails.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will negotiate indirectly through an Omani official who will shuttle messages between the two sides, Iranian officials said, a week after a first round of indirect talks in Muscat that both sides described as constructive.

Araqchi and Witkoff interacted briefly at the end of the first round, but officials from the two countries have not held direct negotiations since 2015 under former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Araqchi, in a meeting with his Italian counterpart ahead of the talks, said Iran had always been committed to diplomacy and called on "all parties involved in the talks to seize the opportunity to reach a reasonable and logical nuclear deal".

The three top staffers for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth who were suspended as part of the Signal group chat investigation have each been terminated.

Darin Selnick, the Pentagon's deputy chief of staff, and Dan Caldwell - a senior adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, were placed on administrative leave as part of the probe.

Colin Carroll, chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg, was suspended a day later. 

All three have since been let go, a spokesman for the Pentagon told DailyMail Friday night.
Hegseth's Chief of Staff Joe Kasper is also set to resign in the coming days, Politico reported.

A senior defense official told DailyMai of Kasper and the other three: 'At this time no final senior staffing changes have been decided, and the Secretary will make any future announcements on his own timetable.' 

Kasper's departure would be especially curious, as he put in the request for an investigation into multiple leaks out of the Pentagon last month.

The Supreme Court in the early hours of Saturday told the Trump administration not to take any action to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members currently based in Texas while litigation continues.

The court did not grant or deny an application filed by lawyers for the detainees, but effectively hit pause on the case, which affects people currently held within the jurisdiction of the Northern District of Texas.

"The government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court," the brief order said. It noted that an appeals court has yet to act on a similar request.

Two conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, disagreed with the decision, the order noted.

A divided federal appeals court panel on Friday temporarily halted U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s contempt proceedings against the Trump administration over its deportation flights to El Salvador last month.

A federal judge in DC told lawyers for migrants in Texas who believed the Trump administration is about to swiftly deport them under the Alien Enemies Act that he did not have the power to pause the deportations, even though he was concerned about the administration’s actions.

“I am sympathetic to everything you’re saying, I just don’t I think I have the power to do anything,” Judge James Boasberg said at an emergency hearing this evening.

He said that, under a recent Supreme Court ruling, only the courts with jurisdiction over the Texas detention center where the migrants were being held had the power to intervene.

🥴The faculty senates in the Big Ten Academic Alliance are creating a “mutual defense compact” to fight against President Trump’s ongoing attacks on higher education.

The faculty senate of Rutgers University began the initiative, passing a resolution April 6 to establish the compact among the Big Ten’s 18 universities.

The resolution says it is in response to the Trump administration’s “legal, financial and political” attacks on academic freedom and the missions of universities.

Rutgers’s resolution has since been joined by at least four faculty senates at other Big Ten schools, with Michigan State University becoming the latest Tuesday.

In the Rutgers resolution, it says schools that participate should be willing to make legal counsel, experts and public affairs offices available to any institution that is facing pressure from the Trump administration.

A fund would also be created to provide “immediate and strategic support” to universities.

The media company majority owned by President Donald Trump, Trump Media & Technology Group, said on Thursday it had asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate a recent short position in its stocks.

Hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies disclosed a roughly $105 million short position in Trump Media on Monday, according to a filing with Germany's federal Gazette Bundesanzeiger.

Trump Media, which is 53% owned by Trump and is the parent company of the Truth Social platform, said in a memo sent to the SEC on Thursday it was concerned Qube's short positions could involve "suspicious activity."

Kevin Hassett, chair of the White House National Economic Council, backed away from his previous concerns about Powell’s firing and said the White House was looking for ways to replace the Fed chief.

State Farm, the insurance company most exposed to the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, announced Friday that it had agreed to pay out 65% of the value of personal property claims before requiring itemization.

The company made the announcement after meeting with Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions Ric Grenell, who has been President Donald Trump’s representative in California during the rebuilding effort.

Grenell posted on X earlier this week about his discussions with State Farm:

The Florida State University dining manager and his boss who was in town for a visit were both killed when a gunman opened fire.

Aramark Collegiate Hospitality regional vice president Tiru Chabba and FSU dining coordinator Robert Morales were gunned down at the Tallahassee campus on Thursday.

FSU student Phoenix Ikner, 20, wounded six others in his rampage through the university before he was shot and arrested by police.

Chabba, 45, lived in Simpsonville, South Carolina, and managed the Southeast region for the division of Aramark that provides catering to college campuses.

He was visiting FSU for meetings with staff and university officials and in the wrong place at the wrong time when Ikner opened fire.

Chabba worked for Aramark for more than 25 years, working his way up to his high-level position in October 2022.

A source familiar with Biden’s faltering speaking career said that the 46th president’s standard pitch is $300,000 — 25% below Barack Obama’s $400,000 asking price upon leaving office in 2017.

It’s unclear how negotiable Biden’s rate is.

If travel is required, a private jet and expenses for five staffers also is expected for Biden, who has been repped since early February by the Creative Artists Agency.

“CAA is having trouble booking gigs, which isn’t surprising,” the tipster said.

A second source said they heard people close to Biden floating an even higher desired fee, despite the ex-commander in chief having a history of peddling glaring inaccuracies before his political career came to a crashing end when he delivered incoherent debate remarks that prompted a Democratic mutiny.

Biden’s use of “colored” to refer to black people while speaking at a disability conference in Chicago earlier this week has some former aides hoping he will spend more time at his Rehoboth Beach house.

“There are more questions than answers,” she warned, adding that there are more than 50k other files to be uncovered and released.

Asked about what other countries were involved, Gabbard pointed out a diplomatic cable that’s part of the 10,000 files that National Archives staff had placed out for her to view.

“If you look on this memo alone, you see Kuwait, London, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Benghazi…all of these American embassies who were the recipients of this cable,” she explained. “People are going to have to go to the website and read for themselves to kind of get an insight into what the conversations were like before, and after, Senator Kennedy’s assassination.”

😆🔥New York City Mayor Eric Adams delivered a diatribe against perceived critics and the media in a speech Friday morning at the African American Mayors Association, warning politicians in attendance a similar fate could befall them.

“Particularly if you are the first or second Black mayor, you inherit those who are part of an institution who say: ‘We are going to wait you out,’” said the mayor, referring to city bureaucrats he believes are deliberately sabotaging his agenda. “You inherit those who have their own agenda, who have long relationships with the media that they can leak and slip information and make calls on you.”

In his speech, Adams accused social service providers of relishing the poverty and poor education in low-income communities because it provided them with lucrative municipal contracts. And he said he was criticized — by whom, it was unclear — for hiring a diverse set of top aides.

The mayor went on to lambaste critics who have called the city chaotic despite his accomplishments that he says include Covid recovery, managing the massive influx of asylum-seekers and instilling confidence in bond rating agencies through sound fiscal management.

The mayor’s dyspeptic speech also quoted late comedian Joan Rivers’ signature line, “Can we talk?,” and contained allusions to the “deep state,” a theory that longtime government employees undermine elected officials they are supposed to serve.

Adams has begun to refer to the so-called deep state since promoting “Government Gangsters,” a book by FBI Director Kash Patel.

Mr. Bessent believed that Mr. Musk had done an end run around him to get Gary Shapley installed as the interim head of the I.R.S., even though the tax collection agency reports to Mr. Bessent.

Mr. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency pushed the appointment through White House channels, but Mr. Bessent was not consulted or asked for his blessing, the people said. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations.

Mr. Bessent got Mr. Trump’s approval to unwind the decision. The next acting head of the I.R.S., which has seen a conveyor belt of temporary leaders under Mr. Trump, is expected to be the deputy secretary of the Treasury, Michael Faulkender. He would hold the role until the president’s nominee for the permanent role, former congressman Billy Long, if approved by the Senate, takes over.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) detected the tremor at 9:01am ET in the state's western region, 19 miles from Mentone.

The USGS captured an estimated 10 minor tremors in the area over the last 24 hours, ranging from 1.7 to 2.4 magnitude.

While West Texas has several fault lines, the earthquakes were likely caused by induced seismicity—earthquakes triggered by human activities, particularly oil and gas operations.

Those operations cause quakes mainly through wastewater injection, increasing underground pressure and lubricating faults, making them more likely to slip.

More details are emerging Friday about Florida State University shooting suspect Phoenix Ikner as law enforcement are trying to piece together what motivated the 20-year-old student to allegedly open fire at his school, killing two and wounding six.

Months before the shooting, Ikner was quoted in an FSU student newspaper article about anti-Trump protests at the school and was identified as a political science major, according to WFLA.

The article was later updated to say "An earlier version of this article included a quote from the gunman in the April 17 shooting at FSU and was removed at the decision of our editors to maintain ethical journalistic standards and avoid amplifying the voice of an individual responsible for violence."

Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil also said Ikner "has been steeped in the Leon County Sheriff’s Office family, engaged in a number of training programs that we have," according to The Associated Press. "So it’s not a surprise to us that he had access to weapons."

The two people who were killed were not FSU students, according to authorities, who believe that the suspect acted alone.

One-third of fires responded to by the Los Angeles Fire Department over the last six years involve the homeless, according to a newly released department memo.

The memo found rubbish fires — half of which involve the homeless — became the department’s top service call type in 2024 and said falling LAFD staffing and rising homeless dispatch volume leave the department overextended.

The report says that while homeless individuals make up just 1.2% of LA’s population, they are responsible for 12% of LAFD emergency medical services incidents and 33% of fires. This means compared to other people in Los Angeles, homeless people are 10 times more likely to use EMS services and 28 times more likely to be “involved” in a fire — all at taxpayers’ expense.

LAFD says it believes these numbers understate the number of homeless-related fires and medical emergencies it responds to, meaning the costs are likely even higher.

A federal judge on Thursday issued new restrictions on Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, extending a ban on its access to Americans' personal data in Social Security Administration systems.

U.S. District Judge Ellen Hollander temporarily blocked Musk and DOGE from accessing American's personal data in the SSA system last month, but the ban was set to expire Thursday, per Reuters.

The Trump administration had failed to prove why DOGE needed "unprecedented, unfettered access to virtually SSA's entire data systems in order to accomplish" its goals, Hollander wrote.

Meanwhile, the labor unions and advocacy group that had brought the lawsuit against DOGE had succeeded in showing "that their members will suffer irreparable harm in the absence of a preliminary injunction," she wrote.

Convicted FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith — whom Judge James Boasberg gave a slap on the wrist for his crimes years before becoming a public foe of President Donald Trump’s deportation policies — was more deeply involved in the deeply flawed Crossfire Hurricane investigation than previously known.

Clinesmith, who worked on both the FBI’s Hillary Clinton email investigation and on the Trump-Russia collusion inquiry, pleaded guilty to falsifying a document during the bureau’s efforts to renew FISA authority to wiretap Carter Page, who was an adviser to Trump's 2016 campaign.

Newly-declassified details about Clinesmith’s involvement include a wide swath of information about his role in the case. He was a key go-to for former FBI lawyer Lisa Page and fired FBI special agent Peter Strzok throughout the debunked collusion saga and a main driver in obtaining a FISA warrant against Page based on the infamous Steele dossier.

Clinesmith also granted his seal of approval on a document describing the FBI’s pretextual briefing of then-candidate Trump, was deeply involved in the investigation into retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, played a role in going after former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and more. He also helped the FBI push its  “Cross Wind” investigation, which Just the News can confirm related to the targeting of security expert Walid Phares, which resulted in no accusations of wrongdoing and no charges.

“SHOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD”: President Trump has officially proclaimed April 19, 2025, as a day of commemoration to mark the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, recognizing the start of the American Revolutionary War.

“Two and a half centuries ago, a small band of minutemen answered the call of freedom in the legendary Battles of Lexington and Concord, an epic tale of American strength and the first major armed conflict of the Revolutionary War,” the proclamation reads.

The document highlights the confrontation in Lexington at dawn on April 19, 1775, when 77 American minutemen, led by Captain John Parker, stood against British troops. The resulting gunfire left eight Americans dead—the first casualties in the fight for American independence.

“The British ambush at Lexington became known as the ‘shot heard ’round the world,’ prompting thousands of brave young men to leave behind their homes and livelihoods to fight for our freedom on the frontlines of the American Revolution,” the statement reads.

‼️President Donald Trump will walk away from trying to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal within days unless there are clear signs that a deal can be done, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday.

“We’re not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end. So we need to determine very quickly now, and I’m talking about a matter of days whether or not this is doable in the next few weeks,” Rubio said in Paris after meeting European and Ukrainian leaders.

“The president feels very strongly about that. He has dedicated a lot of time and energy to this … this is important, but there are a lot of other really important things going on that deserves just as much, if not more attention.”

Rubio’s warning came amid signs of some progress in US talks with Ukraine.

We often talk about kayfabe, and its’ prevalence on the world stage.

I’ve often drawn connections between President Trump, his relationship to Vince McMahon, and his time in the WWE.

Linda McMahon is again serving in President Trump’s administration. Having also done so in his first term.

We saw The Undertaker, Kane, and even Stone Cold Steve Austin come out in support of President Trump. These 3 were arguably the biggest stars in the WWE in the 90’s save for The Rock.

We also often talk about the culture war, in which, pro wrestling - especially its fanbase - had become pretty left leaning and woke.

Is the fanbase as large as the NFL, or NBA? No. But it is still a very large fanbase, and a decent swath of society that still must be snapped out of their slumber.

The WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. Worth billions of dollars.

As an example: Wrestle Mania weekend rivals many of the nation’s other largest sporting events - including the Super Bowl.

Recently we saw Paul Levesque, also known as “Triple H” - the CEO of WWE in the crowd with Dan Bongino and President Trump at a UFC fight.

Roman Reigns is the face of the WWE, and has been for the last decade.

He is also related to Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and is a member of the legendary Anoa’i family. A family which wrestlers such as Rocky Johnson, Rikishi, The Rock, Umaga, The Usos and many more came from.

Recently, he did an interview with Vanity Fair, in which he admitted to being a Trump supporter despite being a registered Democrat.

This? This is EXACTLY what we need to bring people over to our side.

Roman Reigns, the face of the WWE admitting that he is a Trump supporter is an absolutely huge win in the culture war.

ESPECIALLY amongst 18-24 year olds. A demographic we desperately need.

Like it or not, pro-wrestling may have, and very well may be playing a way bigger role in saving the country than we realize.

[P.S - At this year’s Wrestle Mania, John Cena will be vying for his … *17th* WWE Championship.]

“It’s like he needs that adversary,” he says. “He needs that opposition to bounce off of. He needs that competitive motivation or something.” Trump’s pugilistic approach, of course, is not unlike WWE’s own template.”
