4/14/25: A smuggler in a red Dodge Ram led TxDPS Troopers on a high-speed vehicle pursuit on IH-35 in Webb County.

During the pursuit, the smuggler, Alexander Velma, from Laredo, Texas, crashed into another vehicle.

Troopers found one illegal immigrant in the bed of Velma’s truck. Troopers charged Velma with smuggling of persons with a likelihood of serious bodily injury or death and failure to stop and render aid.

The Apostles’ Creed echoes this: “He descended into Hell.”

The Early Church revered Holy Saturday as a day of awe, reflecting on Christ’s conquest over the infernal powers. Liturgies and homilies, like those of Melito of Sardis, vividly depicted Jesus storming Hades, binding the devil, and leading the patriarchs to glory. This wasn’t a mere footnote—it was central to the Paschal mystery, showing Christ’s total dominion over evil.

Yet, the Modern Church often overlooks Holy Saturday, reducing it to a quiet pause before Easter. We’ve lost the fire of this truth: that Christ’s descent was no passive act but a victorious raid on Hell itself. Today’s sermons rarely unpack this, focusing instead on the Cross or Resurrection, sidelining the day when Death was defeated and Satan’s grip broken. Holy Saturday is Christ’s ultimate flex—His divine power trampling demonic sin and freeing souls for eternity.

Let’s reclaim this day. Holy Saturday isn’t just a liturgical gap; it’s the celebration of Christ’s absolute sovereignty over Hell, Death, and the Devil. The Early Church got it. We should too

Prayers for the two law enforcement officers who were shot in the line of duty yesterday afternoon. 🙏🏻

Florida: A suspect is dead and two law enforcement officers are recovering following a shooting Friday in Bartow that involved both a Bartow Police Department officer and a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

According to officials, the deputy was shot in the arm, while the Bartow officer was struck but protected by his ballistic vest. The Bartow officer was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, while the deputy was transported by ground. Both are in stable condition and expected to recover.

The suspect, identified as Wayne Volz, 34, was shot multiple times during the incident. Officers rendered life-saving aid at the scene before Volz was transported to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Three people have died, and their bodies have been recovered after a small plane crash in Nebraska.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office said that "a small plane was traveling along the Platte River south of Fremont when it crashed into the river" on Friday night.

"The three occupants of the plane have been recovered and are confirmed deceased," authorities continued. "Those identities will not be released at this time pending next of kin notification."

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have now taken over the investigation. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

Los Angeles: On March 14, 2025, around 10:20 pm, Southeast Patrol Division uniformed officers observed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a traffic stop on Imperial Highway, east of Broadway. From behind their vehicle doors, the officers ordered the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Mario Sanchez, to lower his windows and to place his hands outside his vehicle. Sanchez yelled profanity at the officers and, moments later, exited his driver’s door. Sanchez faced the officers, removed a dark object from his waistband area, and quickly pointed it at them, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Sanchez was struck by gunfire and collapsed in the roadway. Upon the arrival of additional units, an arrest team was formed, and Sanchez was taken into custody.

Officers rendered medical aid to Sanchez until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, who after assuming care, transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

No officers or other community members were injured during this incident.

The object Sanchez pointed at the officers at the time of the OIS was later determined to be a cellphone.

Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators along with representatives from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) responded to the scene and are investigating this incident

The 14-year-old gang member charged with the murder of Newark Police Detective Joseph Azcona will be tried as an adult in federal court, according to U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba. This decision ensures the severity of this crime is met with the full weight of the law.

Detective Azcona, just 26 years old, was ambushed before he could even exit his vehicle while working to keep his community safe. He made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of Newark.

Virginia: An on-duty Chesapeake police officer was injured early this morning after being struck head-on by a suspected intoxicated driver. The crash occurred in the 1300 Block of South Military Highway when the other driver crossed into the officer’s lane and struck the marked patrol vehicle head-on.

The officer, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The officer was wearing a seat belt, which significantly reduced the severity of the injuries sustained.

The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. DUI charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Please pray for the Fulton County and South Fulton County officers who were shot in the line of duty this morning. 🙏🏻

Georgia: Two officers were shot and a suspect was killed during a shootout at a Fulton County motel on Friday morning.

Police say Fulton County officers saw a suspicious person near the Budgetel Inn and Suites on Fulton Industrial Blvd. near MLK Jr. Drive SW and requested assistance from South Fulton police.

When a South Fulton officer got there, a shootout occurred and led to a Fulton County and South Fulton officer being shot and injured. The suspect was killed.

The extent of the officers’ injuries have not been confirmed.

Maryland: A Prince George’s County police officer was seriously injured early Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic around a crash scene. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on southbound Route 210 near Fort Washington Road.

The officer was assisting with an earlier crash investigation when a passing vehicle hit him. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Authorities say the driver stayed on the scene.

Los Angeles: On March 11, 2025, at approximately 6:50 pm, the suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Adrian Uribe, self-reported to 911 that he was armed with a grenade, a shotgun, was suicidal, and would shoot any police who approached his residence located in an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Scarff Street. Southwest Patrol Division officers responded to the location and were guided by citizens to Uribe’s residence. Officers set up containment around the location and made verbal contact with Uribe, who failed to obey officers’ commands and remained barricaded in his apartment.

Metropolitan Division Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) was requested to responded to the location to assist in the apprehension of Uribe. Before SWAT’s arrival, and as officers were attempting to negotiate with Uribe, he suddenly emerged from his apartment, holding what appeared to be a shotgun and pointed it toward officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Uribe was not struck by gunfire and retreated into his apartment and continued to remain barricaded. SWAT officers subsequently arrived at the scene and formed a tactical plan. After continued negotiations and the release of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) vapor gas into his apartment, Uribe surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without further incident. Uribe was booked for 422(a)PC, Criminal Threats.

No officers or community members were injured during this incident. No evidence of explosives or ordinance were located during the investigation. A black and brown plastic replica gun was recovered at the scene and processed as evidence.

Last week, Trooper Jeffrey Galindo was awarded the Lifesaving Award and Illinois PD Officer Gerardo Chaidez was awarded the Director’s Award for their actions in July 2024.

That day, off-duty Officer Chaidez was traveling in Mitchell Co. when he witnessed a man crash while riding his motorcycle. The incident completely severed the man’s leg above the knee. Chaidez used his shirt and later a belt to make improvised tourniquets. Trooper Galindo arrived on the scene and immediately retrieved his department-issued tourniquet, applying it above the improvised ones. Trooper Galindo and Officer Chaidez continued to assess the man’s condition until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital for further treatment.

One-third of fires responded to by the Los Angeles Fire Department over the last six years involve the homeless, according to a newly released department memo.

The memo found rubbish fires — half of which involve the homeless — became the department’s top service call type in 2024 and said falling LAFD staffing and rising homeless dispatch volume leave the department overextended.

The report says that while homeless individuals make up just 1.2% of LA’s population, they are responsible for 12% of LAFD emergency medical services incidents and 33% of fires. This means compared to other people in Los Angeles, homeless people are 10 times more likely to use EMS services and 28 times more likely to be “involved” in a fire — all at taxpayers’ expense.

LAFD says it believes these numbers understate the number of homeless-related fires and medical emergencies it responds to, meaning the costs are likely even higher.

Texas: On Thursday evening at around 6:07pm, Frisco Fire/EMS and Police sent numerous units to a reported shooting at a house in Frisco. The house belongs to the Metcalf family whose son was killed at the track meet. [Address has been left off for privacy reasons.] After units arrived on scene, they found the call to be a swatting hoax.

Swatting is the act of making false emergency calls to law enforcement, often by calling 911, to provoke a response.

There were no injuries.

This morning around 7:00am Officer Galloway was struck by a motor vehicle directing school traffic and seriously injured. This incident happened at the intersection of Newmans Branch and Route 60. Officer Galloway sustained multiple injuries and is currently still in the hospital. This incident is under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.

We would like to thank the outpouring of support from the community. The food, phone calls, and much more. We have said it multiple times,but without our amazing community we can not do our job effectively. Thank You!

Starting tomorrow morning the school zone on Route 60 and Newmans Branch will start at 6:30am to 8:00am and from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Do not be on your cell phones while driving and do not go over the 15mph posted speed limit. There will be strict enforcement during these times. We want to ensure that this type of incident does not happen again to another Officer or anyone that is in that area.

Make sure that you are paying attention to people walking around the area getting on buses, walking to the Pre-K, other parents dropping off children and to the Officers that are directing traffic.

Florida: A Fort Myers police officer was injured in a crash with a Dodge Grand Caravan at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Six Mile Cypress Parkway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:24 p.m.

According to FHP, the emergency lights and siren of the FMPD patrol vehicle were activated.

FHP said the officer was taken to the Gulf Coast Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the FHP news release, the driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan suffered minor injuries in the crash.
