It is important for all towns and cities to have large public spaces such as squares and parks. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

There is a view that all cities and towns should have large public areas designated for parks and squares. I agree with this view since those open spaces can serve specific purposes that improve the quality of life for the locals.

To begin with parks, they are clearly beneficial in the ecological sense as there are trees and plants that help the air quality within a town or a city. Having more parks, especially in urban regions, can help people stay connected to nature and enjoy being in a greener space. In addition to environmental benefits, parks can be a venue where people enjoy leisure. Jogging, reading books, and walking with pets can all be enjoyable activities in a public park that serves as a popular outdoor space for local residents. The Central Park in New York City may be one of the best examples of an outdoor space where residents can enjoy their free time and release stress in the “big city” environment.

Squares can also help the city’s infrastructure but for different reasons. The main one is using those as areas for conducting public events that cannot be organized elsewhere. These events can be important in a traditional sense, helping the locals celebrate their heritage, but could also be of more political importance by serving as a venue where international conferences are held. One more benefit of a beautifully organized square is the likelihood of attracting tourists. To be more specific, a square can incorporate elements of unique architecture that become valuable from a tourist’s perspective.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that every city and town can benefit from both gardens and squares. A better environment and multifunctionality can be achieved thanks to having public spaces.
